The historic fishing village of Port Salerno is deliberately located where the Atlantic Ocean, Indian River Lagoon and St. Lucie River meet. It was founded in 1894 and named Salerno in 1910 after many settlers who were immigrants from Salerno, Italy.
The working waterfront is known for its commercial and recreational fishing, along with other water-dependent businesses.
Aside from Port Salerno’s waterfront district, located on the Manatee Pocket, it is known for being home to the Chapman School of Seamanship, Fish House Art Center, Sandsprit Park and an eclectic mix of restaurants.

A couple enjoys the view of Manatee Pocket while dining at The Loft at Pirates Cove in the historic fishing town of Port Salerno. According to the restaurant, the chef hand-picks fresh seafood every day and prepares it with a light Caribbean flair. Besides seafood, it serves a variety of chicken and steak dishes, ribs, burgers and more.
