Summer’s coming, and we all know what that means… The white of winter’s snow (or grey slush) will soon be replaced with tennis whites, as we gear up for another season of racket-based fun.

If you can’t wait for Wimbledon in July, why not visit Paris for Roland Garros from 20th May to 9th June 2024?

What is Roland Garros?

Roland Garros, AKA the French Open, is a major tennis tournament held in Paris, named after World War One pilot, Roland George Garros. Garros was a huge lover of planes, probably because back in his day, train travel wasn’t as easy as it is today – especially with our app in your hand.

Who’s playing at Roland Garros?

The Roland Garros 2024, unlike previous editions, seems more uncertain than ever, with several tennis players capable of taking the title home: the 14-time champion Rafa Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz start as main favorites, but other tennis players like Rudd  Medvedev, Tsitsipas, Sinner, Tiafoe or the always controversial Kyrgios can surprise this year.

Where is Roland Garros?

Stade de Roland Garros is in Paris. You can get the Eurostar from London to Paris in around two hours and 20 minutes. From Paris Gare du Nord, it’s about 40 minutes on the metro. Here’s a Paris metro map to help you find your feet.

How do I get to Roland Garros?

By train, of course! Channel hopping is a piece of cake with us, as you can book Eurostar tickets (at the same great fares) in an instant on our app or website, using Apple Pay, PayPal and more.

You can catch the Eurostar at London St Pancras International, in the heart of the British capital, and find yourself at Paris Gare du Nord in just over 2 hours. 

Naturally, we think travelling to Paris by train is the best way. Just think, there’s no need to arrive at departures two hours early. Eurostar check-in closes 30 minutes before departure, for those who have a Standard ticket. And, First Class ticket holders can check in as late as 10 minutes before departure – although, we’d recommend not cutting things too fine!

Trainline tip – It may sound obvious, but don’t forget your passport!

There’s no hand baggage restriction on liquids with Eurostar either, so you won’t have the nightmare of decanting all your lotions and potions into smaller bottles and squeezing them into a see-through bag.
