Something menacing is taking shape at Universal Orlando Resort.

On Thursday, Nov. 5, the Florida destination announced an upcoming attraction coming to Universal’s Epic Universe. According to a press release, construction has already begun on an all-new indoor roller coaster within Dark Universe, one of the park’s five themed lands.

Universal says the new experience will “immerse guests in an all-new story inspired by the iconic Universal Monsters franchise.”

Dark Universe opened alongside the rest of Universal Epic Universe in May 2025. It takes inspiration from Universal classic monsters such as Frankenstein, the Creature from the Black Lagoon, the Wolf Man and more.

The new indoor coaster will be the land’s third attraction. It will be located directly next to Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment, an award-winning motion-simulation dark ride that follows Dr. Victoria Frankenstein as she attempts to continue the work of her ancestors and control the village’s monsters. However, her plans go awry when Dracula leads a revolt.

The upcoming attraction will also join Curse of the Werewolf, the land’s existing spinning family roller coaster. The Mack Rides-manufactured coaster reaches speeds of 37 mph and takes inspiration from the 1941 film The Wolf Man.

Elsewhere in the land, guests can dine at Das Stakehaus, The Burning Blade Tavern and De Lacey’s Cottage. There’s also the Darkmoor Monster Makeup Experience, in which skilled artists transform guests into terrifying monsters with makeup and temporary tattoos.

An official opening date for the new attraction has yet to be announced, but Universal says an opening is planned for “the years ahead.” More information will be revealed at a later date, according to the press release.

On social media, Universal shared a teaser video for the attraction featuring “Dark Universe” written in black text before lightning bolts flashed across the screen. In the comments, theme park fans shared their excitement for the new ride. Some even offered their own speculation regarding the theming.

“Creature my love is this your time to shine?!?!?!” one user asked, referring to the Creature of the Black Lagoon.
