Top Airline Resumes Middle East Flights Despite US Warnings

For eight months, British Airways passengers have had to make alternative arrangements when planning trips between London and several destinations in the Middle East.

The disruption has affected more than individual holiday itineraries, interrupting connections through one of Europe’s busiest international airports and leaving uncertainty over when some familiar routes would return.

The airline is now rebuilding parts of its regional network, despite the United States advisory level, but not every destination is returning at the same pace.

Its latest schedule changes give passengers a clearer picture of which connections are available again, which remain suspended and how the continuing security situation could affect future travel.

The outbound flight, BA105, is scheduled to depart Heathrow Terminal 5 at 8:00 p.m. and arrive at Dubai International Airport Terminal 1 at 7:45 a.m. the following morning. The return service, BA104, is officially scheduled to leave Dubai at 10:00 a.m. and arrive at Heathrow at 2:55 p.m. local time.

The National reported that the first returning flight departed Heathrow at 8:08 p.m. on November 3 and landed in Dubai at 7:33 a.m. the following morning.

British Airways plans to increase the route to two daily flights during the summer 2027 travel season, provided operating conditions allow the expansion to proceed.

Nov. 4 Amman Return Proceeds as Bahrain Suspensions Hit March 2027

Dubai is part of a gradual restoration of British Airways’ Middle East network. Several destinations have different restart dates and frequencies.

The airline’s current schedule includes:

  • Amman, Jordan: Services resumed November 4, with four flights per week.

  • Doha, Qatar: Services resumed September 1, operating once daily instead of twice daily.

  • Tel Aviv, Israel: Daily services resumed October 25.

  • Riyadh, Saudi Arabia: Flights are scheduled to resume January 11, 2027, with one daily service.

  • Bahrain: Flights remain suspended until the end of March 2027.

  • Abu Dhabi, UAE: Services are not expected to return until the winter 2027/28 season.

The differences matter for passengers planning journeys across the region.

Oct. 23 US Level 3 UAE Advisory Joins Oct. 27 UK FCDO Updates

The return of flights also comes with continued government warnings about security conditions in the Middle East.

On October 27, the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office updated its advice covering 16 countries in and around the region, including the UAE, Jordan and Saudi Arabia.

“The context in the Middle East remains deeply unpredictable, and the risk of sudden escalation is high,” the FCDO stated.

It also advised British nationals to prepare for possible flight cancellations, airspace closures and travel disruptions.

Americans face a separate warning.

The US State Department’s October 23 advisory classifies the UAE as Level 3: Reconsider Travel, citing terrorism and armed conflict. It also identifies risks to commercial aviation operating near the Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman.

For passengers connecting through Heathrow to Dubai, the restored British Airways service provides another option, but it does not remove the possibility of schedule changes.

Travelers should check airline updates and their government’s current travel advice before departure.
