Bill Hader is gaining some cool dad points with his latest film.
The Saturday Night Live alum, 48, who stars in the new animated The Cat in the Hat film, recently chatted with E! News about the project and revealed the hilarious reaction his daughters had after seeing the movie.
Hader, who welcomed Hannah, 17, Harper, 14, and Hayley, 11, with his ex-wife Maggie Carey, went on to share the funny milestone he reached with his daughters that gave him some bonus points as a dad. “They came to the premiere yesterday and they really liked it,” he told the outlet. “They were like, you know, ‘Proud of you dad. It was good.'”
“I got direct eye contact,” Hader added. “It was huge.”
While Hader has kept his kids out of the spotlight, the Barry star has shared some anecdotes about his daughters, including what it’s like to be outnumbered by girls.
“I’ll say, ‘I’m doing this!’ And, to me, masculinity is like, ‘I am watching TCM right now!’ ” Hader joked to PEOPLE in 2014. “They’re like, ‘No, we’re watching Peppa Pig.’ And I go, ‘Alright, Peppa Pig it is.’ “
In August 2025, the comedian appeared on friend Seth Meyers’ talk show, Late Night with Seth Meyers, and shared that his three daughters were standing backstage.
“I’m always happy to see you, but today was extra special — all three of your daughters backstage,” Meyers, 52, said, before Hader replied, “Yes, all three of my daughters are backstage.”
Asked if it’s a “daddy-daughter” trip to New York, the comedian confirmed that it was. “That is right. That’s why I’m here,” Hader explained. “And they’ve never seen 8H, where I worked.”
“Great. Right down the hall, where we did SNL,” Meyers said, referring to the time the two spent on the NBC late-night sketch comedy series.

“And I showed them 8H, and I was like ‘This is where we did Stefon,’ which you and I [worked on]. And all they say is like, ‘Where is Domingo? Where is Domingo?'” Hader joked of current SNL breakout star Marcello Hernandez’s iconic character. He added, “We watched Happy Gilmore 2 and they’re like, ‘There’s Domingo! There’s Domingo!’ And I’m like, ‘Okay.'”
Later in the conversation, Hader made sure to clarify that he did find Hernandez’s character quite funny. “Domingo was really funny, by the way. I just wanted to say, I think that thing is hilarious,” he shared.
“I think Domingo’s great, but once my kids love him that much, I won’t like Domingo anymore,” Meyers joked.
