Robert Downey Jr. and Pedro Pascal turned Halloween into a Marvel event. The two Avengers: Doomsday stars traded costumes on October 31, dressing as each other’s characters and giving fans a playful look at their upcoming roles.
Robert Downey Jr. and Pedro Pascal switch Avengers: Doomsday roles
Robert Downey Jr. and Pedro Pascal flipped their Marvel identities for Halloween. Downey suited up as Pascal’s Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic. Pascal transformed into Downey’s Victor von Doom/Doctor Doom, complete with a green sweatshirt, green pants, a green cape, and the villain’s silver mask. Downey posted an Instagram video with him hiding his face, and Pascal concealed behind Doctor Doom’s mask. Both men then lower their guards and reveal the swap. “Victor. Richard. Costume swap!” Downey wrote in the caption.
A second Instagram Story shows the pair strolling arm in arm, posing and laughing. They also posed with fans. The post drew immediate reactions, with fans filing jokes and theories into the comments. After all, the timing matters. Pascal’s Doctor Doom costume previews the villain’s first on-screen appearance in Doomsday. Downey plays Doctor Doom in the film, not his longtime Tony Stark/Iron Man role.
San Diego Comic-Con confirmed in July 2024 that the Fantastic Four will appear in Avengers 5 and 6. Pascal leads that group alongside Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm. Avengers: Doomsday is releasing in theaters on December 18. Until then, Robert Downey Jr. and Pedro Pascal have given Marvel fans one costume swap to talk about.
