Dupree Drama Ensues on Election Day on Beyond The Gates
Jacob and Naomi are leaving the Grands’ election watch party when they run into Chelsea and Kat and walk past. Chelsea apologizes for causing a scene earlier. She says what’s happening with Smitty and Martin are a part of it but also all the stuff with her dad. Anita stops her and says there is no need to explain as she knows her most empathetic grandchild feels things so very deeply. She does think turning on each other is not the way to deal with the situation.
Izaiah thinks he and Eva should bounce but Kat stops them. She apologizes for Chelsea’s outburst but notes the stress she’s been under. Izaiah counters with all the stress Jacob and Naomi have experienced. She understands when Izaiah says his brother is trying to do the right thing but asks HIM to stay as they are family.
Vernon approaches Nicole who says she will be thrilled if Martin wins but relieved if he loses. Being out of the limelight, will mean fewer people will have a reason to hold her son’s past over his head. She says, whatever happens, they have to tell Martin about Hayley’s knowledge of Old Decatur Road as she doesn’t want it to blindside him.
Martin Wins!
Martin arrives as Naomi and Jacob are walking out the door. Just then, Smitty stops them and tells Jacob he understands why he is suspicious based on their undercover work together. That being said, he has not nor would not bribe a source or ever sneak pills to a source. Just then, Martin stops them and call their children in as he has gotten the call. The Duprees enter as Martin concludes his opponent’s concession call. Martin wins! With that, the family screams, hugs and celebrates victory!
