Jason Momoa’s latest movie is bleeding money at the box office, and the numbers keep getting worse. The video game adaptation suffered another brutal weekend drop as its theatrical run continues to disappoint.
Street Fighter continues its flop run at box office
Paramount’s Street Fighter continued its steep box office decline in its third weekend. The video game adaptation dropped by another 62.7% from its second frame, according to Box Office Mojo. The film opened to $30.8 million domestically on October 16 and has struggled to hold audiences since.
Street Fighter suffered a 72% plunge in its second weekend, earning just $8.6 million across 3,575 theaters. That decline ranked as one of Paramount’s steepest second-weekend drops for a non-concert film. The third-weekend fall pushed the movie further down the domestic chart.
The film’s domestic total now sits at roughly $54 million against a reported $82 million production budget. Its worldwide gross stands at approximately $83.6 million, with $32.7 million coming from international markets. One projection estimated Paramount could lose more than $50 million on the release.
Critics gave the movie a poor reception, with Rotten Tomatoes listing a 41% Tomatometer score. Audiences responded more favorably, giving it an 80% Popcornmeter rating. The 37-point gap between critics and viewers showed a clear divide in reception.
The 2026 reboot still outperformed earlier films in the franchise at the domestic box office. The 1994 original starring Jean-Claude Van Damme earned $33.4 million domestically on a $35 million budget. Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li made just $8.7 million in the U.S. in 2009.
However, the new film trails behind Mortal Kombat II, which earned $38.5 million in its opening weekend and finished with $79.8 million domestically.
