I’m an avid traveler, but I’ve always hated packing. And ever since becoming a mom, I’ve started to hate it even more. Whether I’ve planned a quick getaway to the beach or a weeklong adventure to Iceland, I still have to bring the same amount of baby gear and essentials—from a Pack ‘n Play to a baby monitor, high chair, toys, and so much more.
To spare my partner and me the hassle of packing up our entire nursery for a quick weekend trip to Vermont, I had the opportunity to test BabyQuip, a baby gear rental service, as part of Good Housekeeping’s 2026 Travel Awards. Thanks to BabyQuip’s partnership with Vrbo, a booking platform that literally stands for “vacation rentals by owner,” we were able to rent a home with everything our little one needed (plus a few fun surprises).
Here’s everything you need to know about my experience testing the Vrbo and BabyQuip partnership, and whether renting baby gear is worth it for your next vacation.

I remember meeting a mom once who told me about her trip to Hawaii and how, instead of cramming all her infant’s gear into checked bags or shipping it, she used a service called BabyQuip. She raved about how it made traveling so much easier for her family, but I didn’t quite understand how much easier until I tried it out for myself.
An award-winning travel service, BabyQuip is a baby equipment rental service and marketplace that services over 2,000 cities across the U.S., Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, Australia, and New Zealand. The promise is “clean, safe, and insured baby equipment,” which can be rented from trained Independent Quality Providers (QPs). QPs do everything from renting, delivering, and setting up equipment in your new location, whether it’s a hotel, vacation rental, or even a drop off at the airport when your flight lands.
How does it work?

You can start your rental on the BabyQuip website or app by specifying your desired drop-off or delivery location, dates, and preferred delivery and pickup windows. You can even select an airport so you can pick up your gear upon arrival in your new destination.
When I tested BabyQuip, I first booked my home on the Vrbo app. Once all details were finalized, I was then given the option to rent baby gear from BabyQuip. Because I had booked through Vrbo, I was able to take advantage of a 10% discount thanks to the Vrbo and BabyQuip partnership.
Whether you’re booking with Vrbo or via another platform, the process is the same. Once you’ve specified your travel details, you’ll be prompted to select the gear you want to rent. You can choose among the following categories:
You’ll find pretty much every product you might need for your kids on BabyQuip’s website. Once you’ve selected everything you want to rent, you’ll be asked to select a provider. While some providers may have everything you requested available for rent, some may be missing an item or two.

When your provider is selected, you’ll be able to review the products you’re renting on the checkout page. Note that the brand or exact product isn’t always specified—i.e., you may see that you’re renting a “high chair,” or that you’ll receive the “Graco SlimFit 3 in 1 Car Seat.” For more details, you can contact your provider.
How much does a BabyQuip rental cost?
I wouldn’t say renting from BabyQuip is cheap. It definitely saves you time and hassle when it comes to transporting baby gear, but there are various fees associated with it. First is the product rental fee, which can range from $2/day for toys to $20/day for a crib.
Next, there are taxes and fees to consider, as well as the delivery and pickup service fee. For my Vermont trip, the delivery and pickup fee was $155, coupled with a $30 service fee. While browsing for a potential rental in the West Palm Beach area, I noticed that picking up from the airport with one provider had a $36 delivery and pickup fee (and no service fee). Another local provider had a $90 delivery fee. It’s safe to assume the delivery fees for your order are based on the distance from the provider, so delivery fees for remote areas like my Vermont trip will differ from those in a popular city with many providers.
One tip: To save on the delivery fee, you can pick up and drop off the gear yourself.
My experience with BabyQuip
For our three-night stay in Vermont, I rented an activity center, a bathtub, a changing pad, a baby gate, an activity table, a climber, a high chair, and a crib for a total of $384. Because I was staying in a Vrbo, I received a 10% discount (it amounted to $20 off my total). As mentioned above, the delivery and pickup fee was $155, which really increased the overall cost. That said, it was such a joy to arrive and have all of our rented baby gear waiting for us. I didn’t have to pack any bulky items or fight for space inside the trunk.
When it came to coordinating and communicating with my Quality Provider, Alyssa, everything was seamless. Once I booked my rental, we coordinated an ideal drop-off time, and she was extremely accommodating when our arrival was delayed due to traffic.
Gear-wise, everything we received was clean and in great condition. I chose to rent a few new toys for our daughter to play with that weekend, which made our stay special. I loved being able to get my hands on big items like a Pikler Triangle, which I simply don’t have space for in our small NYC apartment. I was also so grateful that I rented a baby gate to prevent my baby from climbing down the stairs, as well as a little bathtub (it turned out that the Vrbo only had showers, so this made it infinitely easier to clean her before bedtime).
The bottom line: Is BabyQuip worth it?
If you want to skip the trouble of packing all your baby’s must-haves, renting from BabyQuip is a brilliant solution. It isn’t inexpensive, especially if you plan to rent several big-ticket items like a crib or wagon, but having them can really improve the overall quality of your vacation.
If you’re staying in a Vrbo, having access to everything you need while away can really make you feel at home (plus the discount, though minimal, doesn’t hurt). I also love that you can rent certain pet gear so you don’t have to transport a dog crate, as well as space-consuming beach gear like chairs, umbrellas, wagons, coolers, and more.
