ELLE Decor and JW Marriott Host an Intimate Evening at Essex House in Manhattan

The November issue of ELLE Decor had us all dreaming of the places to be, from relaxing getaways in the Hudson Valley to the hot springs of Tbilisi, Georgia. Inside, we explored a Fishers Island retreat designed by Lily Dierkes and journeyed to Baja California through the architecture of Tom Kundig. To celebrate the Escapes issue, Head of Editorial Content Elisa Lipsky-Karasz and JW Marriott hosted an intimate evening at the brand’s Essex House hotel in New York City. Guests—including architect Reinaldo Leandro of ELLE Decor A-List firm Ashe Leandro, designer Tommy Zung, and gallerist Satu Greenberg—began with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres in the private dining room at Bourbon Steak, designed by AvroKO Design. Throughout the night, guests perused copies of the November issue, which features a cover story on Leda Athanasopoulou’s home in Patmos, Greece.

The JW Marriott Garden Party inspired conversation about design and exploration, featuring a menu with ingredients from JW’s gardens. Attendees conversed over centerpieces of green anthurium and artichokes, and ELLE Decor A-Listers, such as Nick Olsen, Anishka Clarke, and Niya Bascom joined the celebration. Photographer Robert Wright sat next to editor and stylist Beverly Nguyen, as guests fantasized about far-off summer vacations to Portugal or shared recommendations for winter trips to Tokyo.

Together, the JW Marriott Garden Party and the ELLE Decor Escapes issue inspired a shared sense of wanderlust. Between the pages and conversations, flights may have been impulsively booked or calendars marked for the next vacation.
