After teasing some tweaks to his Cajun drawl as the card-slinging mutant member of the X-Men, Channing Tatum debuted his updated voice for Avengers: Doomsday in a new campaign for Dunkin’ Donuts. A commercial featuring Gambit and H.E.R.B.I.E. from The Fantastic Four: First Steps kicks off a collaboration that involves immersive restaurant transformations, a character-inspired menu, and limited-edition collectibles.

“Doomsday is here, mon ami,” Tatum’s Gambit tells H.E.R.B.I.E. “You got any ideas up in that tin-can head of yours?”

Using Doomsday and Avenging Munchkins Donut Hole Treats from Dunkin’, a mouthful of a treat title, H.E.R.B.I.E. proceeds to explain the plot of Avengers: Doomsday in robot-speak and how different worlds from the Marvel multiverse are about to collide with each other. The word for that event is “incursion,” which lends its name to the so-called “Munchkin Incursion” commercial.

Tatum debuted as Gambit in Deadpool & Wolverine (2024), fulfilling the actor’s long-standing dream to play the character known as Remy LeBeau. The star of Roofman and Blink Twice was once attached to lead a solo Gambit movie back when 20th Century Fox owned the rights to the X-Men characters. But as Disney absorbed the studio in a Hollywood-shifting acquisition, those plans were shelved.

In a salute to Ryan Reynolds, Tatum credited the Deadpool star and writer for the opportunity to finally play the character. “I thought I had lost Gambit forever. But he fought for me and Gambit,” he wrote. “I will owe him probably forever. Cause I’m not sure how I could ever do something that would be equal to what this has meant to me.”

The Gambit of Deadpool & Wolverine, however, intentionally sounded incomprehensible in order to play up the tone of the R-rated comedy, which also starred Hugh Jackman as Logan. For Avengers: Doomsday, Tatum told Variety, “I’m not gonna go full Cajun. [Directors Anthony and Joe Russo] want things to be funny, but they don’t want to go full Deadpool. They want to keep the drama and keep it tight. When Gambit gets serious — when he drops the Mardi Gras mask — things do matter.”

The Magic Mike and 21 Jump Street alum elaborated further in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. “The accent’s a tough one,” he said in a September 2025 conversation. “It’s hard to explain that to someone that isn’t from the South, isn’t from Louisiana. My dad’s from New Orleans. I’ve been around. That accent has a big spectrum. You cannot understand ’em at all, and you can understand ’em at times. So you have to really play with it.”

The Dunkin’ Donuts ad is the most we’ve heard Tatum speak in his updated Gambit voice. He joins an immense ensemble cast for Avengers: Doomsday, which sees three groups of heroes from three alternate realities come together to face Victor von Doom, a.k.a. Doctor Doom (Robert Downey Jr.).

Other actors portraying X-Men characters in the film include James Marsden (Cyclops), Rebecca Romijn (Mystique), Alan Cumming (Nightcrawler), Kelsey Grammer (Beast), Ian McKellen (Magneto), and the late Patrick Stewart (Professor X).
