Warning: Spoilers for the Season 1 finale of Brothers ahead!
Has Brothers Been Renewed for Season 2?
As of November 4, Apple TV has not officially renewed Brothers for a second season.
In a new interview with TV Insider, Matthew and Woody revealed that they haven’t developed plans for more episodes.
Matthew explained that the creative team approached the first season as a complete eight-episode story, rather than planning multiple seasons in advance.
“There’s no grand plan,” he said.
Woody agreed, explaining that they hadn’t planned anything beyond the first season.
However, co-creator Lee Eisenberg is interested in continuing the series if the two stars want to return.
He explained that he intentionally ended the first season with an unresolved storyline, leaving the door open for a potential second season.
What Could Happen in Brothers Season 2?
The Season 1 finale revealed that Matthew and Woody‘s characters are actually biological brothers within the show’s fictional universe.
The episode ended with the pair setting off to find their biological father, who is in prison.
Lee explained that he would love to explore the characters traveling together and eventually meeting their father if the series continues.
“I love the idea of the two of the guys on the open road and for better or for worse, getting into each other’s business and then ultimately meeting their biological father,” he said.
The creator also suggested that introducing the father would offer opportunities for comedy and potentially an exciting new casting addition.
However, he said that the ideas are still preliminary and that Apple TV has not ordered another season.
“It’s early days,” he acknowledged.
The show’s premise takes inspiration from the actors’ real-life friendship and their speculation that they could be half-brothers. Unlike their fictional counterparts, Matthew and Woody have not publicly confirmed a biological relationship.
For now, all eight episodes of Brothers Season 1 are available to stream on Apple TV.
