The newly created ‘SAN Pass’ will allow non-ticketed individuals at the San Diego International Airport to go through the security screening process in terminals 1 and 2 so they can see off a loved one, greet an arriving traveler, or visit the shops and restaurants. The SAN Pass is free and can be requested for same-day use.
To get the SAN Pass, visitors can visit San.org and follow the short application process, including full legal name, date of birth, and gender. Applicants will be notified of the status of their request on the morning of their visit, while same-day requests will be notified within 15 minutes. Most people won’t want to wait too long, however, as there is a limited, unspecified number of SAN Passes per day. The passes are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
People approved will need to go through the normal TSA checkpoints. You can not use TSA Pre-Check or CLEAR while using a SAN Pass. Minors are allowed, but will need to be accompanied by an adult. One adult can supervise up to three children.
