While air travel is generally the preferred method of transportation for long trips, factors like lengthy security lines and tight seating on flights can make the experience far from ideal.
Even getting to the airport can be a chore, as travelers must choose whether to drive themselves or get dropped off by a friend or ride-hailing service. The dilemma is especially evident at Newark Liberty International Airport, where finding convenient, available parking is not always easy at one of the country’s busiest travel hubs.
Here is what to know about the various parking options in and around Newark Airport.
On-site parking at Newark Airport
There are five main parking areas at Newark, three of which are adjacent to Terminals A, B and C. Travelers can prebook a spot on the airport website at least 24 hours in advance of arrival for $50 per day in all three lots.
The lots also accept vehicles within a day of getting to the airport for a flight. The drive-up rate is $65 per day for Terminal A and $70 for B and C.
Travelers can secure a spot on site at the daily parking garage, located near Terminal C. The rate is $40 per day when prebooked and $60 for drive-up vehicles.
Lastly, the economy lot offers long-term parking behind Terminal C, with a parking lot shuttle arriving every five to seven minutes. Vehicle owners parked here pay $30 per day for a prebooked spot and $35 when driving up.
The airport parking website provides real-time data showing the percentage of vehicles occupying each lot.

Other transportation options to Newark Airport
Travelers choosing public transit can use AirTrain Newark, a 24-hour shuttle that connects the three terminals with the airport train station’s New Jersey Transit and Amtrak lines.
AirTrain arrives at stops every three to five minutes daily from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. It runs approximately every 15 minutes overnight, and passengers may need to transfer to reach their intended destination.
Taxi service rates vary depending on the distance, but the airport website includes a list of sample fares between Newark and other North Jersey cities. The rates include $56 for Hoboken and Jersey City, $79 for Edison and Hackensack, and $89 for New Brunswick.
Travelers will have to weigh the parking prices vs. the cost of a taxi or ride share service to see what makes sense for them. How far you are from the airport along with how many people are traveling could impact your choices too.
