How to Get Around
The ferry ride from Athens to Sifnos generally takes between two-and-a-half to three hours. The closest airport is on the island of Milos, from which the ferry to Sifnos takes about 45 minutes. Sifnos also has a helipad for those who prefer helicopter transfers. Once you’re on the island, renting a car or taking taxis are generally the best ways to move around. The municipal bus network is also reliable, just a bit slower.
When to Visit
The best times to visit Sifnos are from May to mid-July and from September through October. That said, while the island does see more visitors from mid-July through August, it never feels overwhelming or overcrowded. Even during the peak of summer, Sifnos retains its peaceful charm and laid-back atmosphere.
