“I’ve been lucky enough to test the Bonne Maman Advent calendar three years in a row,” shares Deputy Editor Katie Bandurski. ” The book-like design of the 2026 calendar opens to expose 24 teeny present boxes, each holding a tiny 1-ounce jar of deliciousness. As for the jams, prepare your taste buds to enjoy 24 different spreads—many of which can only be found inside the calendar.”

Favorite Advent Calendar Is Back
Some of this year’s standout flavors include: fig with cardamom, strawberry with Madagascar vanilla, pineapple with lemon verbena and milk caramel with salted butter. This is one of the best Advent calendars because it gives you a reason to make homemade biscuits or toast every day in December. What’s not to love?

For folks who still appreciate the art of sending letters and documenting memos on paper, the Papier stationery Advent calendar is well worth the splurge. This luxury countdown is loaded with 24 desk delights that make crafting snail mail a dream. It truly checks all the boxes: luxurious, cohesive, joyful and, a personal favorite, practical.
“I loved last year’s letter-shaped calendar, but the design of the 2026 countdown is even better,” says Deputy Editor Katie Bandurski. “It’s a little more streamlined yet still oh-so impressive.”
When you lift the lid, you’re greeted with three drawers of perfectly packaged mini presents to open each day until Christmas. Each gift is exquisitely wrapped in thick paper in an array of cohesive yet distinct patterns.

A two-tiered box holds various colorful, patterned rectangular packages, cards, and small gifts, neatly organized on each level against a wooden background.
“If you want an Advent calendar that feels like you’re truly opening a gift, rather than just pulling open a drawer, this is the best option I’ve seen in my years of testing,” says Katie.

Pros:
25 days of decadent, surprising treats
Calendar tells a story and inspires all the senses
Packed fresh the same day it ships
Lights up, plays music and doubles as a heirloom decoration
Cons:
Some of the chocolate flavors are a bit unusual
The sad thing about most Advent calendars is that after the 24 days are done, you typically have to toss the packaging. Not so with Vosges Haut-Chocolat’s Advent calendar. This unique Advent calendar for adults doesn’t just contain 25 days of decadent sweets—it also doubles as a Christmas display, with a new theme every year.

While much pricier than other picks, you can bring it back out year after year—and the treats inside aren’t your average waxy Advent chocolates, either. After all, Vosges won the “most exotic” award in our best boxed chocolates showdown, so they know what they’re doing. In our testing, we’ve also found that many of the treats are exclusive to the Advent calendar!
Preorders for this year’s calendar, The Grand Cacao Lodge, are already available. Shipping starts in November, but we recommend ordering it as soon as you can since it sells out every year. Trust us—you won’t be disappointed.

If you’re a fan of spicy food, the 24-Day Fly By Jing Advent calendar is the calendar for you. Not only do you get to try Fly By Jing’s famous flavors (hello, chili crisp), but there are inclusions here that you literally can’t find anywhere else. It’s quite the exclusive calendar for spice lovers!
Some of the highlights of this calendar span spicy instant noodles, Fly by Jing’s original chili crisp and the brand’s signature Sweet & Spicy Zhong sauce. Even if you live with someone who can’t handle spice, there are several milder seasonings. Highlights for me were the brand’s sweet shallot sauce, Sichuan hot honey and a BBQ spice rub.

Toha26 Fly By Jing Emily Way 02 Yvedit
This version also includes two ornaments, a couple of pairs of chopsticks and a cute little spoon for your chili crisp. While one of my ornaments arrived broken, I chalk this up to a fluke since the other was in perfect condition. We also tested the 12-Day version, and the ornament included in that version was also intact.
While the calendar isn’t cheap at $175, it only includes full-sized jars and packages. I love Fly By Jing’s products (most notably their hot pot broths), and the quality is just as I expect from them. And, considering you get nearly double the products you’d get in one of their gift sets at a similar price point, it’s kind of a steal.

If there’s one luxury Advent calendar I’m without a doubt snagging every year, it’s the Beekman 1802 Advent calendar. Our editorial team has tested this luxe skincare Advent calendar since 2023. This year’s 2026 calendar is my second year receiving it, and the 2026 setup is even better than last year’s.
This year’s calendar features a sturdy foldout “Kindness Cafe” theme, complete with an attachable awning and detailed storefront. It’s so cute, in fact, that my niece already claimed it as a play background and storage for her extensive Littlest Pet Shop collection! Personally, I love a calendar that can be repurposed, especially one as adorable as this. If she hadn’t nabbed it, I could definitely see myself using it as a jewelry box or something similar.

Toha26 Bestluxuryadventcalendars Emilyway 73 Jsedit
But looks aren’t all this countdown has to offer. Inside are a whole host of goat milk skincare items, such as body butters, hand creams, soaps, face treatments and even a miniature collectible of the brand’s goat mascot, Goatie. As someone with sensitive skin, I love that these products don’t break me out at all. Plus, the brand’s sustainability efforts make me feel good about purchasing from them.
I actually love that this beauty Advent calendar doesn’t include makeup, too. With so many different skin types and shade preferences, I typically end up regifting most of the makeup I receive in Advent calendars. Last year I tested nearly a dozen beauty Advent calendars and found that most were either filled with overstock or offered a terrible bang for your buck. Beekman’s Advent calendar is the only one I’d recommend, hands down.

Cons:
Some pieces are delicate and don’t always want to stay popped out
The Merry Village 12-Day Advent calendar is a brand-new Advent calendar from LovePop, and it’s a particularly nice option if you want something you can keep rather than consume or throw away after the holidays. Each day’s reveal contributes to a larger Christmas village, so the experience builds toward something. You’re not simply buying 12 disposable holiday surprises—the countdown results in a Christmas village that you can display again in future years.

Toha26 Lovepop Advent Village Nancysnyder 03 Jsedit
“The bright pops of color immediately caught my eye, and I can’t wait to display the finished village on my landing and cherish it for years to come,” says tester Nancy.
Initially, Nancy thought it would be fun to place small battery-operated LED tea lights underneath the village to make the pieces glow. However, the way the pieces are designed underneath doesn’t really allow for that, but it wasn’t a major disappointment. After playing around with placement, she noticed that the natural light from her window actually brightens the colorful pieces beautifully.
“I loved watching the village come together one day at a time. It feels like you’re getting a holiday experience and a keepsake decoration all in one,” she raves. “The finished village is something I genuinely look forward to displaying. I’d happily give this as a holiday gift, but it’s also the kind of Advent calendar I’d buy for myself.”

Pros:
Each day brings two new funny magnets
Magnets are strong and perfect for the fridge
Quotes are clever and silly
Cons:
Some of the quote magnets were a bit bent
The Oh What Googly-Eyed Fun magnet countdown is practically made for a white elephant exchange. Fairly priced at around $25, this silly adult Advent calendar is brimming with sass. Each of the 12 windows opens to reveal two new magnets: a food item with googly eyes and a funny quote to accompany it.

A countdown calendar shows 6, 5, 4, and 3 days left. Next to it are cute cartoon stickers of a pizza slice and two green veggies with speech bubbles on a wooden surface.
Each day’s offerings are equal parts clever and silly, making this the perfect pick for folks who love a good dad joke. And in this world of googly-eyed oranges that say things like, “I was juicy way before those sweatpants were,” or apples that claim their pet worm is “a rescue,” it’s hard not to let out a sensible chuckle.
The calendar is also compact, making it ideal for gifting. Just keep in mind that while none of the jokes are “dirty” per se, some may not be suitable for younger kids. We recommend this one for folks ages 8 and up—though younger kids will certainly get a kick out of the googly-eye magnets!

“Holy moly” is the profoundly witty reaction tester Barbara Zito had to this Advent calendar. She notes that it is exactly what you think and hope it will be.
“I admit, I had lowered my expectations. How premium could it really be? I expected a few top brands mixed in with well liquors, but these are all top-shelf spirits,” says Barbara. “My husband, who is a sales rep for a major wine and spirits company, couldn’t believe the brands that were included. That said, we highly encourage gifting this Advent calendar responsibly. A full 24 days of shots is a big commitment, after all. In addition, this one requires an adult signature upon delivery. Great way to discover new favorites
Fun, unique tasting experience
Mix of familiar and new-to-you brands
Great gift for hard seltzer fans
Cons:
21+ signature required at delivery
$15 shipping fee makes total cost a little pricey
Who needs a wine tasting when you can have a hard seltzer tasting? This adult-focused hard seltzer Advent calendar comes with 12 full-size cans comprised of hard seltzers, vodka sodas, and other sparkling ready-to-drink favorites, making this our top pick for seltzer snobs. The presentation is fun, albeit simple—the numbered slot makes opening each can feel like an actual countdown rather than just receiving a box of drinks. Just note that it ultimately is a box of drinks, so an adult at least 21 years old must sign for it.
Those looking to try a handful of seltzer brands without risking an entire eight-pack of a single flavor will love the exploratory nature of this boozy Advent. Tester Nancy Snyder recognized only a handful of the brands she received, such as White Claw, Truly and High Noon.

A red box labeled “12 Nights of Hard Seltzer” sits on a table, with three different hard seltzer cans placed on top of it, each with distinct designs and colors.
“Several others were brands I had wanted to try, while some were completely new to me,” she says. “That made each day’s can feel like a little surprise. Rather than committing to an entire case of one brand or flavor, you get the opportunity to sample a variety of products in one box.”
The Advent calendar box was placed inside another protective shipping box, and everything arrived intact with no damaged cans or packaging. Considering the calendar is a bit of a splurge at $79 plus $15 shipping (which works out to roughly $8 per can), we appreciate the attention to packaging! To ensure each day was ready to enjoy, Nancy suggests opening that day’s can and putting it in the refrigerator so it would be cold and ready to enjoy later that night.
“This is such a fun gift for a hard seltzer fan because it’s more than 12 drinks—it’s 12 chances to discover a new favorite,” says Nancy. “I got to try brands I already knew, brands I’d been curious about, and even some I’d never heard of before. It’s basically a hard seltzer tasting built into an Advent calendar.”

Flip it over, and the spices are listed along with ingredients and notes on the back. Each offers a helpful descriptor, letting the recipient know what flavors to expect and how to use the spices. The collection includes savory and sweet spices as well as many global flavors.

Williams Sonoma Spice Advent Calendar
“The first thing I noticed when the package arrived was how good it smelled. The spices are so fragrant and fresh,” says tester Pamela Bondurant. “The packaging is colorful and festive for the holiday season. Cinnamon sticks, cloves and holly let me know that this truly is a Christmas Advent calendar.”
While we love the spices, we didn’t see them available for repurchase on the website. Sure, that makes the blends in this calendar extra special, but we’d love the ability to repurchase any favorites. Additionally, be careful when snagging this one for someone with allergies, as it contains many common allergens.
That said, it’s a fantastic motivator to use new flavors in your cooking. Pamela suggests using each day’s spice for your evening meal to truly explore what makes each day’s spoils unique.

Googly and Bright Ornament Advent Calendar

Pros:
Wooden ornaments made to last
Whimsical, colorful designs
Googly eyes—say no more
Cons:
I wish there were more, but that’s because they’re so cute!
This Advent calendar is made up of 12 fun Christmas ornaments with googly eyes—how could it flop?! The objects featured in each of the 12 wooden ornaments are primarily traditional Christmas foods and flair. Think Christmas ham, ornaments and pie. Even better, each has a little sassy message to go along with it. It’s genuinely fun to open up each day and display your new silly ornament on your tree!

Googly And Bright Advent Calendar
This calendar sparks so much joy. From the colorful, whimsical details to the funny little quotes and googly eyes, it’s such a cute idea for kids and adults alike. That said, it does reference alcohol at Christmas, so it may not be suitable for all ages. However, my niece and nephews loved my new ornaments so much that I just had to get them one of these silly Advent calendars. There’s just something about googly eyes that transcends generation!
I love that the ornaments are reusable and sturdy, so I can enjoy them year after year. Because of the excellent quality and fun execution, opening each day feels like celebrating Christmas again and again. At only $25, it’s incredibly budget-friendly, making it a great white elephant gift.

Best Licorice
Lakrids by Bulow Licorice Advent Calendar
Shop on Uncommon Goods
Pros:
Elevated look and feel
Truly unique experience
Crafted with real licorice root and molasses
Cons:
Some flavors may not appeal to everyone
Licorice isn’t for everybody, but even those who swear off the saccharine-yet-salty sweet may change their mind after opening up this licorice Advent calendar. In one of the first doors on this Advent calendar, Lakrids by Bulow make a promise: these delightful licorice bites will entice everyone—including folks who purportedly hate licorice. I’d say these tasty candies live up to that promise.
Each window contains two bites of premium licorice, enrobed in a flavored chocolate coating. I never thought lemon or mint lakrids (Danish for “licorice”) could taste so tantalizing. But from the first bite, I was sold. Each day was a new adventure, a chance to indulge in this mysterious world of flavor.

Unexpected Licorice Advent Calendar
Those who want to explore flavors such as golden oranges, sea buckthorn, milkshake and even double caramel mint won’t be disappointed. While this isn’t the candy Advent calendar everyone would choose, those seeking to expand their horizons and indulge in a luxury experience will not be disappointed by the delightful flavors.
It’s a bit on the pricey side, but very comparable to other premium candy Advent calendars, such as Sugarfina. Bonus: The brand uses real licorice root and molasses, so it’s very much a traditional lakrids calendar boasting premium ingredients.

Chow down on Smoky BBQ Crunch one day, then enjoy a bag of Buttery Bliss Bites the next. There’s truly something in this Advent calendar for everyone!

24 Days Of Gourmet Nuts & Snacks
Each generous portion of snacks comes in its own little pouch to keep it fresh. There’s just enough to indulge alone or with a friend. Some of my favorite bites include the spicy Pineapple Heatwave Chips and Truffle Umami Pretzel Pops.
While I loved most of the snacks, a few weren’t quite to my taste. However, I appreciate the sheer variety and loved the experience of trying new flavors with my husband each day. Note: The flavors might be too adventurous for kids!

Bibliophile Advent Calendar

Pros:
Reusable year after year
Great way to recap a year of reading
Cons:
Highly conceptual with few physical inclusions
Being bibliophiles, we absolutely had to test out this Advent calendar built for book lovers. We weren’t quite sure what to expect with this calendar, which promises “24 miniature books of prompts, trivia, and illustrations.” But this charming calendar quickly won us over thanks to the bright, colorful packaging featuring illustrations of popular books.
Inside, 24 tiny paper books come tucked in sleeves. On the right, an empty, colorful “library” waits to be filled. You also get a little “My Year of Reading” journal, and on Christmas day, a little “Bibliophile” charm. Each of the daily “books” is made of cardboard and is beautifully illustrated. It includes a question or two. Think “what was the best book you read this year,” or “what’s your favorite bookstore,” or “what’s your favorite historical novel.”

Bibliophile Advent Calendar
After you complete each day, you can move the little mini book over to the built-in bookshelf. The mini library is a super display-worthy calendar and a fun conversation starter. It’s also a cute way to work through your yearly reading journey. That said, we do wish the questions got a little deeper and more introspective, though they’re perfect for a light reflection. It’s also worth noting that the text inside the books is quite small, so you may need a magnifying glass to see it!
For fans of both books and miniatures, this is a fun daily activity to look forward to each day leading up to Christmas.

Best Crochet
Here We Go A-Wooblin’ Advent Calendar
Shop on The Woobles
Pros:
Perfect gift for crafters and crocheters
Adorable and high-quality box
Strong variety of surprises
Good value (Individual accessories kits start at $5)
Cons:
Requires some crafting skill
Crocheters, this one’s for you. If you’re looking for a fun way to celebrate your craft every day in December, you can’t go wrong with The Woobles Advent calendar. This Advent calendar for crafters has everything you need to keep calm and stitch on. And, if you’re a newbie, no worries—The Woobles offers easy-to-follow instructions, so you can learn a new skill as you craft some cute friends!
While we have yet to test this year’s calendar, the past two years have been total hits. The 2025 theme was “Woobles Toy Workshop,” with the imagery featuring a Santa’s Workshop-esque background. One thing to note is that previous years offered a full 24-day calendar, while the 2026 version just includes 12 days of projects and accessories. If you’re looking for a full 24-day calendar, you might want to skip this year’s offering.

A craft kit is displayed on a table, including white string, yellow string, a stuffed white pouch, tan yarn, brown yarn, and a colorful instruction booklet labeled “North Pole Empowerment File.
Even still, this year’s option looks just as detailed and exciting as last year’s. My favorite part of last year’s calendar? Everything—from the boxes the surprises come in to the box itself—is totally reusable for playtime. This year’s boxes are similarly reusable, while the box itself unfolds into a reusable playscape.
If I were a kid, this would be my dream Advent calendar. Even as an adult, I’m stunned by the detail. I can’t wait to snag the calendar, finish each Wooble and set up the full diorama!

Best Beer
GiveThemBeer Beer Advent Calendar

Pros:
12 days of craft beer
Variety of beer from different U.S. microbreweries
Ideal for seasoned and beginner beer enthusiasts
It’s like a brewery tour in your home
Cons:
Must keep in the fridge for the best tasting experience
Beer lovers, listen up. If counting down the days until Christmas with candy or chocolate isn’t your thing, we found one of the best boozy Advent calendars for bringing breweries from around the country straight to your door. The GiveThemBeer Advent calendar offers a little something for everyone, from IPAs to stouts and ales.
This Advent calendar brings a favorite pastime to the comfort of your home. With craft beers from microbreweries across the U.S., it’s truly like a brewery tour, but you don’t have to leave the couch. Just make sure to keep the box in the fridge to ensure every brew is chilled before opening.
We tested the 2023, 2024 and 2025 versions. Pre-orders for 2026 ship early in November. We haven’t had the pleasure of enjoying this year’s assortment, but we’re sure it’s absolutely sip-worthy.

Givethembeer Countdown
Product tester Pamela Bondurant notes that it’s not always possible to purchase microbrewery beer from locations across the U.S. That’s what makes this calendar a winner for her.
“I love the diversity of beer included in this Advent calendar. There are stouts, IPAs, ales and more from every coast and some in between,” she says. “There’s no product list, so each day truly is a surprise when you pull your beer from the Advent calendar.”
This countdown expands the palate in the best ways. We love the idea of hosting your own happy hour during the 12 days leading up to Christmas, and we know you will, too!

Best for Pickle People
12 Days of Pickles Advent Calendar
Shop on Give Them Beer
Pros:
Treats are fun and surprising
Good mix of pickle-centric merch and snacks
Dill-ightfully quirky
Well-packed—nothing arrived broken
Cons:
Some of the items are a little hard to get out
If you’re the type to order extra pickles on your burgers, this is the Advent calendar for you. This dill-icious countdown comes stuffed with pickle-flavored treats and briny merch galore. From pickle chips to pickle-flavored lip balm, each tangy treat inside this adult Advent calendar is bound to bring a smile to fans of the salty snack. Shipping for the 2026 calendar starts in late October.

12 Days Of Pickles Advent Calendar
Last year, I enjoyed unpacking pickle-flavored pretzels, mayo, lip balm and even a pair of pickle socks. It’s a fun Advent calendar that’s truly unique—I don’t think there’s anything else like it! If you don’t know any pickle fanatics, it’s also a great silly option for white elephant gifts. I love that it has a healthy mix of treats and knick-knacks, so you don’t get burned out on all that beautiful pickle flavor.
GiveThemBeer doesn’t do a lot with their packaging, but everything inside was well-packed and damage-free. While it did take a little wiggling to pull out some of the larger items, I really appreciated that each day was clearly marked. I totaled the items at roughly $70, so it’s not quite worth the full $90. That said, much of the charm comes with the exploration and curation, so I’d say it’s still worth the price.

Best Coffee

Pros:
Includes 24 mini coffee bags that yield a full pot
Reasonable price point
Cons:
Only available pre-ground
If coffee is your preferred caffeinated drink, you need to try Door County Coffee’s Advent calendar. Tester Katie Bandurski tested the 2025 Advent calendar and recommends it for those who consider coffee their must-have wintertime beverage.
“As a Wisconsinite, I have the privilege of visiting Door County regularly. And the DC coffee shop in Sturgeon Bay is always on my “must” list. I love the brand’s wide array of cozy flavors,” says Katie. “I’m impressed with this calendar’s packaging. It’s pretty big and will certainly stand out in your kitchen, but I like the easy-open doors and cheerful artwork. If you love flavored coffee, this countdown will certainly add some pep to your December step.”

Door County Coffee Advent Calendar
But the way it looks isn’t the only draw—it’s the flavors that really make this a gift that keeps on giving. Last year’s Advent calendar featured a mix of holiday blends and timeless favorites. Wake up to Mistletoe Mocha or Jingle Bell Java one day, then brew a classic Breakfast Blend or signature Highlander Grogg the next.
Each set includes 24 1.5-ounce bags of grounds that fit perfectly in your drip coffeemaker for a full pot, or you can scoop a tablespoon or two for a perfect pour-over.

Pros:
Mix of reds, whites and rosés
Sells out each year, so you know it’s good
Four calendar options to choose from
Cons:
Not available for shipping to Alaska, Arkansas, Delaware, Hawaii, Mississippi, Rhode Island or Utah
Grab your favorite wine glass and pour one out because we found the best wine gift this holiday season. While some wine Advent calendars include only 12 mini bottles of vino, we appreciate the tasteful yet indulgent nature of this In Good Taste mixed wine Advent calendar.
We’ve tested this calendar for three years running, and we’re excited to try the 2026 version when it officially drops in October. For now, we’re on the preorder list.

In Good Taste Mixed Wine Advent Calendar
Apart from boasting 24 mini bottles with enough wine for one (or a tasting portion for two), it also offers a selection of whites, reds and rosés that are equally delicious and distinguishable from one another. Last year, inclusions ranged from bespoke beverages to unexpected favorites. We found everything from refreshingly light Sauvignon Blanc to dark and adventurous Shiraz.
Each bottle is packaged securely inside its slot, meaning zero breakage during transit. The bottles themselves are also display-worthy for those who want to upcycle them for flower propagation or candles. Each comes with a mini cork, too, which makes it easy to save them in the fridge for later. The back of the package includes a QR code linking to a daily video that details each wine, so you can sip along with the experts at In Good Taste.
In Good Taste also offers an all-red wine option, a white and rosé calendar and a luxury version for those who appreciate the finer things.

Best Cheese
12 Days of Murray’s Cheese
Shop on Murray’s Cheese
Pros:
Two pounds of cheese included
Bestsellers and crowd pleasers
Spreads and crackers add a fun tasting element
Cons:
Some days have no cheese, so you have to wait if you want to pair flavors
When it comes to high-quality charcuterie, there’s no better cheese than that from Murray’s. The Murray’s Advent calendar is a staple in my home year after year. Bursting with two pounds (!!!) of cheese and a number of delicious accompaniments, Murray’s countdown is delightful.
This year’s version looks a lot like last year’s calendar. Thankfully, last year’s did not disappoint!

12 Days Of Murray’s Cheese
There were a number of cheeses inside, from mild Gouda to sharp, flavorful English cheddar. Each one arrives in a generous serving, making it a fun experience to share with others. The calendar also comes with a cute cheese-centric Christmas print that makes it highly giftable. It’s packed and shipped carefully with ice packs and insulation, arriving at my door cold and fresh each year.
While the cheese itself is amazing, some days only have crackers or other pairings. Because of this, I highly recommend you save some of the previous day’s cheese or wait until the next day to enjoy a pairing. The days with cheese were arguably the best, but finding other delicious accompaniments like jams and crackers broke up the monotony and added a fun pairing element. Other offerings include Effie’s oat cakes and four sweet and spiced jellies.

Comes with two Glencairn glasses ideal for sharing

The 2026 theme, Museum of Flaviar, allows you to discover award-winning, curated 1.7-ounce samples of the world’s best drams. Each option comes paired with a work of art for an experience that’s as visual as it is flavorful.
We tried Flaviar’s whiskey Advent calendar in 2023, 2024 and 2025—and can confirm it’s a stellar deal for serious spirit lovers. While we have yet to taste this year’s pick, we expect it will be equally memorable.

Flaviar advent calendar whiskeys laid out on a table
“Whiskey samples include award winners and exclusive new releases,” says product tester Daria Smith. “Some whiskey vials come from bottles worth over $150. Not only does it include two Glencairn glasses, which are ideal for sharing each sample with a loved one, but the education-focused tasting journal includes information on each individual whiskey sample with space for personal tasting notes on each whiskey vial.”
“As one of the best Advent calendars, it’s wrapped in stunning packaging, enhancing the overall tasting advent-ure. Additionally, the whiskey vials and glasses are secured tightly in their slots and won’t break during shipping.” Your personal whiskey-tasting experience awaits!
We’ve also reviewed Flaviar’s subscription service and find that it makes a great gift.

Best K-Cups
Keurig 24 Cups of Cheer Advent Calendar
Shop on Keurig
Pros:
24 days of single-serve coffee pods
Full-bodied, festive flavors
Affordable price point
Variety of coffee flavors and brands
Cons:
Only compatible with Keurig machines
If single-cup brews are more your style, add a K-Cup Advent calendar to your cart.
Product tester Annamarie Higley tested the Keurig Advent calendar back in 2024 and recommends it for those who consider a Keurig machine their must-have home appliance.
“The packaging is adorable. The box opens up like a storybook, and the illustrations are so charming,” she says. “It’s so cheery. I especially love the quaintness of the outside illustration. I’d gladly leave this on my kitchen counter or coffee bar throughout the holiday season.”

Keurig Advent
While it does include a few standard run-of-the-mill flavors, there are also a few surprises sprinkled inside.
“It definitely feels like you’re getting something special and exclusive with this collection,” says Annamarie. “A handful of these pods were remarkably good and flavor-rich. I could even pick up some of the listed notes, such as cherry in the Caribou Coffee Reindeer Blend, which is a rarity for a new coffee drinker like me.”

Best Candy
Sugarfina Snoopy’s House Advent Calendar
Shop on Sugarfina
Pros:
Adorable Peanuts packaging
Good mix of gummy and non-gummy candy
Appropriate for all ages
Cons:
Ingredients aren’t as premium as we’d like
Snoopy fans, this one’s for you. Back for a second year, the Sugarfina x Peanuts countdown is as adorable as it is delicious. The 2026 countdown has a slightly different design than last year’s version, but it’s still packed with delicious, high-end candy treats.
“I’m a big fan of Advent calendars that double as decor,” says tester Katie Bandurski. “It arrived at my door in a brown box with two ice packs (which were fully melted). Still, despite the September heat wave, everything was perfectly intact.”
The calendar itself is shaped like the iconic red doghouse. It gets even better when you open the doors to the calendar and find a pop-up paper Snoopy that unfolds to assume his go-to position. This calendar gets major points for its design—even before you get into the good stuff!

Sugarfina Snoopy’s House Advent Calendar
As far as contents go, last year there were 24 Sugarfina sweet treats inside. Most were gummies, including fun holiday shapes (reindeer carrots, holiday trees, snowmen), while others were delightful flavors (peach hearts, sparkling stars, passion fruit). There were a few non-gummy candies as well, like sparkle pops, chocolate biscuits and confetti caramels.
Each drawer comes filled with four small pieces of candy. Our biggest con? Some of the ingredients are less than ideal, given the price point. We were especially disappointed to see food dyes, especially, instead of natural alternatives, given the elevated price point and “luxury feel.” That said, the treats themselves were delicious. The sparkle pops especially stood out to Katie.
“They looked like malted milk balls but had sparkling popping candy inside,” she says. “These were super fun. Each one explodes in your mouth but has a nice chocolaty flavor, too. I like that each little candy is wrapped in its own cellophane bag to keep it fresh, and it includes a tear perforation so it’s easy to open.”

Best of Harry & David Advent Calendar

Pros:
24 days of Harry & David’s most iconic treats
Large variety of sweet and savory goodies
Ideal for gifting to loved ones (or yourself!)
Enough for the whole family to share
Cons:
Treats lean more sweet than savory
This Harry & David countdown features 24 tastes of the brand’s most iconic products. You’ll snack on a little bit of everything—think Moose Munch popcorn, dried fruits and nuts, cookies and even a Royal Riviera pear. Weighing in at over 7 pounds, this bountiful Advent calendar is big enough for the whole family. We can’t think of a more delicious food gift.
We tested the Harry & David calendar in 2023 and 2024, and it consistently checks all the boxes. Yes, the strong variety of goodies is impressive. But it’s the amount of care and attention that went into this Advent calendar that makes it stand out.

Best Of Harry & David Advent Calendar
While some countdowns only have one treat per day, most days within the Harry & David calendar include multiple snacks and desserts, so you don’t have to fight over who gets what (or whose day it is to choose a treat).
Plus, each confection is wrapped in gift-worthy packaging. Every day truly feels like a little gift to yourself. Adorable winter designs make the packaging cute and festive without being too over-the-top. The real magic lies within the delightful treats.
How to Choose the Best Advent Calendar
First things first: decide whether you’re looking for the true Advent experience or a smaller 12-day countdown instead. The beauty of this tradition is the sheer variety of options available!
Deputy Editor (and Advent calendar tester extraordinaire) Katie Bandurski suggests finding a calendar that aligns with your age, favorite foods or drinks and budget. You’ll also want to consider a few practical details, like whether you have enough fridge space for a cheese calendar or the time for a crafting calendar. “The goal of modern Advent calendars is to spark joy,” reminds Katie. “The holiday season can be tough. Reclaim some of that childhood magic with a countdown catered to your interests.”
The biggest consideration is probably cost vs. value. Editors vetted all of the options on this list and believe that each has a well-justified value. Some picks contain contents worth more than the calendar’s price, while others include goodies not available outside the calendar. These exclusives are some of our favorites!
How We Found the Best Advent Calendars

Toha26 The Best Advent Calendars For Kids 01 Ssedit
We get it—the world of holiday countdowns has exploded, and it’s overwhelming just how many options are available today. Not only did we thoroughly research the best Advent calendars across food, beverage, lifestyle and home categories, but we also tested over 150 picks in 2023, 2024 and 2025. Our 2026 testing is also well underway, as we continue to evaluate old favorites and test new-to-the-market countdowns. We chose inclusions at every price point, ranging from $15 to $400.
So, how exactly do you test an Advent calendar? First, we evaluated the technical details, such as the overall packaging and shipping experience—emphasis on experience. Advent calendars aren’t just a silly little countdown. The best ones get the whole family in on the fun, boast a strong element of surprise, include gorgeous packaging and offer exceptional value for the price.
For foodie countdowns that include treats prone to spoiling, we also evaluated their overall taste and freshness over several weeks. Bonus points if they include limited edition goodies you can’t find anywhere else.
Other Calendars We Tested
Some of the calendars we tested didn’t make the cut. Here are the ones we tested that didn’t appear on the list. While some were omitted due to issues found during testing, many others fell just short of the high bar we set. We recommend perusing this list to get our take on each pick—some of these Advent calendars are still well worth purchasing!
12 Days of Hot Sauce: I am obsessed with the idea of a hot sauce calendar, and the included sauces were a great variety and super tasty. However, the sauces completely shifted inside the calendar, meaning that many of the sauces became buried in the packaging.
12 Days of Nuts: The packaging is very cute, but it unfortunately ruins all the surprises. All the tins arrive labeled and visible right out of the box. That said, this is a fun (and delicious!) calendar for the nut lover.
12 Days of Whiskey: While this Advent calendar didn’t ultimately make the cut, it’s still a great gift—especially when paired with a Flaviar calendar!
24 Days of Baking Cookies: This adorable Advent calendar is such a cute idea. From the thoughtful baking accessories to the two included recipes, each aspect of this Advent calendar feels carefully curated. That said, it’s a bit pricey for what you get.
24 Days of Christmas Dog Treats: These treats are dog-approved, but our tester is disappointed that the packaging displayed all of the treats. That took away much of the surprise element for us—and many of the inclusions were duplicates, too.
Bokksu Advent calendar: From the packaging to the surprises inside, this Advent calendar feels luxurious. The days with edible treats don’t skimp on servings, making them a fun option for sharing! That said, several inclusions weren’t labeled in English, so I almost ate a packet of bath salts. With this calendar, Google Translate is your friend.
Book Lovers Advent calendar: While the small paper items in this calendar aren’t the most thrilling, this is a really cute and thoughtful gift for readers or writers. Our tester recommends pairing it with something else (like a book or mug) because, on its own, it falls a little short.
Cometeer 24 Days of Specialty Coffee: While it’s a bit pricey, we’re big fans of Cometeer, so we really enjoyed testing this coffee Advent calendar. Those seeking a fun and offbeat gift for bean lovers, this is it!
Log Cabin Advent calendar: “After seeing the packaging online, I really wanted to love this Advent calendar in person. However, the packaging errors and the overall lack of freshness were super disappointing,” says our tester.
ManVent: Unfortunately, our tester found everything quite dry or overseasoned.
Onyx Coffee calendar: This Advent calendar’s stunning fold-open design is impressive, and the coffees are whole-bean, fresh and 100% delicious. That said, it’s rather bulky. However, it’s a great option for those who prefer regional blends to Door County’s flavorful options.
Venchi Chocolate Advent calendar: This stocking-sized chocolate Advent calendar is expensive, but the chocolates inside are absolutely delicious—and the calendar itself is nice and compact.
Vienna Cookie Company Advent calendar: We really wanted to love this calendar. And while the cookies are delicious, the packaging experience left a lot to be desired. We had serious concerns that this countdown would remain fresh throughout the whole month of December. For the price, you’re better off gifting a Vienna Cookie box and enjoying it over a few days, or visiting a local bakery.
Winter Lights 12 Days of Puzzles: This is still a great pick for those who prefer a different design, even though we ultimately chose the other puzzle Advent calendar we tested.
WSJ Wine Advent calendar: I’m incredibly impressed with this wine calendar and consider it a worthwhile splurge. However, it lacks the customization options of the other wine Advents we tested. If you like a variety of wines and don’t mind some surprises, I still recommend giving it a try.
FAQ

Advent Calendars
What is an Advent calendar?
An Advent calendar comes from the Christmas tradition of Advent, which is a countdown to the holiday. In Christian religions, it’s the time to prepare for Jesus’ birth.
How does an Advent calendar work?
Advent calendars typically feature 12 or 24 “windows” that traditionally contain treats, toys or other surprises. Each day, the recipient opens one of the windows and enjoys that day’s prize. Open the numbered windows in order for the most authentic experience.
How many days are in an Advent calendar?
Advent calendars typically contain either 12 or 24 windows, but some offer as few as eight.
When do you start an Advent calendar?
Because it’s technically a calendar, we recommended starting on day 1 to correspond with each day’s date. That will also help you keep track of which days you’ve already completed without doing any math. Some Advent calendars also feature the best surprises at the end, so it’s fun to build up to them. But, of course, if you want to spice things up, you can also start at 24 and count backward to the days leading up to Christmas. For calendars with 12 surprises, start opening on December 13.
Why You Should Trust Us
