The Bachelor is coming back — and on a different night than before.
The dating reality series returns to ABC for its 30th season on Sunday, March 21, moving from its typical Monday evening time slot, the network announced on Nov. 6, while revealing its midseason premiere slate.
The show was renewed in June 2025, after Grant Ellis’ turn on The Bachelor in early 2025. Its return comes after Bachelor in Paradise wrapped up in the summer of 2025, and almost a year after Taylor Frankie Paul’s season of The Bachelorette was scrapped days before its premiere in March.
Paul, who was already a reality star thanks to her time on The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, had her season filmed in 2025 and ready to air amid renewed domestic violence allegations and the news that she and ex Dakota Mortensen were under investigation with Utah police.

Less than a week before the 22nd season’s premiere, after a video of a 2023 altercation between her and Mortensen was leaked stemming from an arrest, ABC decided to pull the plug on airing Paul’s season.
“In light of the newly released video just surfaced today, we have made the decision to not move forward with the new season of The Bachelorette at this time, and our focus is on supporting the family,” the network told Entertainment Weekly in a statement at the time.
In response to the video leaking, a rep for Paul told Entertainment Weekly that it was “sad to see the latest installment of [Mortensen’s] never-ending, desperate, attention-seeking, destructive campaign to harm Taylor without any regard for the consequences for their child.”
Mortensen released a statement at the time as well, saying, “As anyone who has seen the video will understand, this is a deeply upsetting situation. I am, unfortunately, used to these baseless claims about me and our relationship, which I categorically deny. I am focusing on our son and his safety, and hope that Taylor will do the same.”
The former couple have since been entangled in a legal battle regarding parent time for their son Ever.
In August, Paul completed her three-year probation as part of the plea deal from the 2023 arrest, downgrading her aggravated assault felony charge to a Class A misdemeanor. She pleaded guilty in abeyance to aggravated assault and received three years of probation with the other charges against her dropped.
The following month, she stepped away from The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.

Weeks after the 22nd season of The Bachelorette was pulled off the air, Disney’s reality chief Rob Mills spoke about the future of the franchise, which also includes The Golden Bachelor, The Golden Bachelorette, Bachelor in Paradise and The Bachelor.
“The Bachelor is almost a perfect format and it is really powerful. It’s over two decades old, and it’s seen really good days and really bad days,” Mills told Deadline in April 2026. “But it’s always had a lot of resilience, especially when the people making it really, really care about it, because that fan base also really cares about it.”

Although the franchise has experienced “growing pains,” Mills was confident in the show’s future, noting that when “The Bachelor comes back next year, it will be done with a lot of thoughtfulness and care,” adding, “I do think better days are ahead for the franchise.”
The Bachelor season 30 premieres on Sunday, March 21, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC and will be available to stream the following day on Hulu.
