Santa Monica Place celebrates holiday season with live entertainment, snow, decor

The holiday season has officially arrived at Santa Monica Place, where visitors to the outdoor shopping destination can enjoy a full festive experience through Christmas Eve.

Here’s a breakdown of what guests can expect:

  1. Santa Monica Place

While snow is common in Southern California, visitors can still experience a white Christmas, thanks to the new” Snowfall at Santa Monica Place” show. Guests will be treated to an immersive seven-to-ten-minute flurry of music and lighting effects.

Shows run at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Dec. 5–7, 12–14 and 19–24.

Center Plaza is home to the shopping center’s traditional holiday offerings, including photos with Santa, a towering 50-foot Christmas tree and holiday décor.

Santa is available for photos daily through Dec. 24, with hours varying.

Pets can also get their photo with Old Saint Nick during “Pet Photos with Santa,”  which will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Dec. 10 and 11. Cats and dogs are welcome but must be leashed or in carriers.

Holiday songs will fill the center throughout the season. “Sounds of Santa Monica: Holiday Edition” brings local musicians and DJs to the plaza Thursdays through Sundays from noon to 6 p.m. through Jan. 4.

Traditional carolers will perform Dec. 5–7 from 3 to 6 p.m.

The Santa Monica Beach Belles return with high-kick holiday dance routines Dec. 12–14 and Dec. 19–23 from 3 to 7 p.m., and on Christmas Eve from noon to 4 p.m.

The Gourmandise School is offering seasonal cooking classes and baking kits, including cookie decorating sessions and its annual Yule Log Bake & Take, now through Dec. 24.

Holiday activities for families will also be available throughout November and December through The Gourmandise School and the Cayton Children’s Museum.
