Disneyland’s most sought-after holiday treats come with an unusual catch: buying one can require an early morning at the park before the day’s rides and Christmas festivities begin.
The Disneyland Resort will bring back its handmade candy cane tradition for the 2026 holiday season, with 20 scheduled release dates across Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure.
For visitors planning a Christmas trip, the limited production and in-person purchasing rules could make these oversized sweets another detail worth planning around.
18-Inch Candy Canes Hit Candy Palace and Trolley Treats Nov. 27
Disneyland’s candy cane tradition dates to 1968. Unlike mass-produced versions, the resort’s candy makers prepare the treats by hand using a process that takes about two hours, from cooking the sugar mixture to pulling, coloring and shaping the candy.

The finished candy canes measure approximately 18 inches long. Their limited production has helped turn them into a seasonal attraction for Disney fans, some of whom return each year to continue family traditions.
For 2026, candy canes are scheduled to go on sale at two locations: Candy Palace & Candy Kitchen in Disneyland Park and Trolley Treats in Disney California Adventure.
The release dates are split between the parks:
-
Disneyland Park: November 27 and 30; December 2, 7, 9, 14, 16, 22, 24 and 25.
-
Disney California Adventure: November 28 and 29; December 1, 6, 8, 13, 15, 20, 22 and 24.
Availability is limited on each date, and the candy canes will be sold while supplies last.

Guests have to buy them in person, with a limit of one per person. They cannot be purchased through mobile ordering in the Disneyland app.
Disneyland plans to use wristbands for the releases, although arrangements remain subject to change. Guests should check the resort’s official updates before visiting because release dates, prices and purchasing procedures can change without notice.

In-Person Wristband Drops Require Valid Theme Park Reservations
The challenge is not finding the right shop. Visitors may need to arrive well before the parks open to improve their chances of getting a wristband before the limited supply runs out.
Disney Tourist Blog recommends arriving early and accounting for the time needed to clear security and enter the park. Hotel location can also affect how quickly visitors reach the entrance.

Park admission alone is not enough. Guests need valid admission and a theme park reservation for the same park on the day they plan to visit.
Reservations are subject to availability, so securing one should come before building a holiday itinerary around a candy cane release.
The resort has not guaranteed that every visitor who arrives early will get one. Anyone making a special trip for the treat should treat availability as uncertain.
20 Holiday Release Dates Enforce Strict One-Per-Person Limits
Handmade candy canes offer a different kind of holiday experience from Disneyland’s major attractions and seasonal entertainment.
The appeal comes partly from watching a traditional craft continue inside a modern theme park, and partly from the memories families associate with returning for the treats each Christmas.

For visitors already planning a Disneyland holiday trip, the release calendar provides a chance to add another seasonal stop. Those visiting for rides and entertainment, however, may prefer not to spend part of their morning pursuing a limited-edition sweet.
The key is to plan around the candy cane. With only 20 scheduled release dates across the two parks, timing could make the difference between taking one home and leaving empty-handed.
