‘Off Campus’ Star Rumored to Not Return for Season 2 as Show Announces Release Date

Off Campus might be saying goodbye to an original cast member as the show prepares for Season 2.

Prime Video has officially confirmed the hit hockey drama series’ next season will premiere on April 28, 2027, with Mika Abdalla and Stephen Kalyn taking the lead to portray Dean Heyward-Di Laurentis and Allie Hayes’ love story in Elle Kennedy‘s book The Score.

Within the renewal announcement, fans noticed a key character who plays a pivotal part in the author’s Off-Campus book series was not named as part of the returning cast. Riley Davis, who played Allie’s boyfriend Sean in the first season, wasn’t listed to be reprising his role.

During a recent appearance on the Hey Jonas! podcast, Abdalla explained the show is going off the pages with more than just the cast.

“[It’s the] same as season 1 [where] season 1 didn’t exactly follow the books,” Abdalla shared. “There’s some new fun stuff and some fun new little things that we’re adding in.”

Within Kennedy’s hockey book series, every hockey player gets their own chance at center, much like the concept of Bridgerton. The premiere season began with the first book in the series, The Deal, following the relationship between Captain Garrett Graham (Belmont Cameli) and music student Hannah Wells (Ella Bright). However, producers have chosen to go out of order as they adapt the third book, The Score, for the second season.

Dean’s storyline with Hannah’s best friend, Allie, was already partially portrayed in the first eight episodes, leaving the rest of their romance to be depicted on screen next.

Within The Score, aspiring actor Allie breaks up with her longtime boyfriend, Sean, because he doesn’t support her dreams. She ends up in a “fling” with womanizer Dean, who begins to fall for her. Once things start to look monogamous, she suggests the two should sleep with other people because she is also starting to catch feelings. She goes through with it, hooking up with Hunter Davenport, a freshman hockey player who already has a brewing feud with Dean.

The first season ends with a cliffhanger: the two players come face-to-face and fight just after Dean learns of Allie’s hook-up and the new addition to the Briar hockey team.
