Some small towns in Texas look like they come straight out of a Hallmark Christmas movie – and the experts are taking notice. HGTV just dropped a list of the 50 best Christmas towns in the United States, crowning Fredericksburg as the top Christmas destination in the Lone Star State. The charming German town is known for its award-winning wineries, whimsical holiday vibes and “magical” Christmas spirit.
The article states that Fredericksburg and other towns stand out for their holiday traditions and vibes that might make you want to book a trip soon.
The Home & Garden Television channel also highlighted the Hill Country town’s unique embrace of the annual holiday season through celebrations like Weihnachtszeit (aka Christmas season), the Fredericksburg Christmas Parade with bright lights, floats and marching bands, frequent holiday markets and the annual Christmas Nights of Lights.
But Fredericksburg’s most well-known, and perhaps most unique Christmas attraction is the “hauntingly beautiful” 26-foot German Christmas Pyramid that can be found in the town square each winter.

Known as the Weihnachtspyramide, or Christmas Pyramid, the wooden structure looks to some like a giant ornament, or a children’s toy, spinning in the middle of Fredericksburg’s dowtown. According to Visit Fredericksburg, the Weihnachtspyramide is a traditional German decoration dating back to the 16th century.
“It is an art form that many believe evolved into our current custom of a Christmas tree,” the visitor center says.
Located about 70 miles northwest of San Antonio, Fredericksburg is the only Texas town to make the comprehensive list of entries.
“All promise to deliver a storybook Christmas filled with candy canes, hot chocolate and Santa,” HGTV said.
