DJ Akademiks Says Drake Is Nearing Biggest Record Deal in History

DJ Akademiks suspects Drake is “on the precipice” of landing the largest record deal of all-time.

During his appearance on One Night with Steiny, Akademiks posited that when the details are finalized, Drake’s next deal will be “probably the biggest record deal on history, on the books, in terms of what they would have to pay him as an advance.”

Akademiks seemingly mentioned that Drake fulfilled his previous obligation by dropping Iceman, as part of his simultaneous three album release that included Habibti and Maid of Honour.

It should not come as a surprise that Drake’s next contract would end up being incredibly lucrative since the rapper is coming off of a previous 360 deal with Universal Music Group, worth a reported $400 million.

It remains to be seen if this next deal will involve Universal Music Group, especially after Drake accused UMG of defamation, harassment, and deceptive business practices in a 2025 lawsuit stemming from the release of Kendrick Lamar’s diss track “Not Like Us.”

While the relationship between the two may have soured over the last few years, a record-breaking contract could stand to heal all wounds.
