Demi Moore’s CFDA Fashion Awards Dress Turns Gap Denim Into Eveningwear

There’s no denim without Demi. At tonight’s 2026 CFDA Fashion Awards in New York City, Demi Moore stepped out in a tongue-in-cheek GapStudio look that redefined the meaning of denim-on-denim.

Designed by Zac Posen, Moore’s custom gown centered on a series of indigo denim waistbands stitched one atop another to form a corseted shape. The bodice featured a halter neckline with folded-over ends, while the low-waisted maxi skirt had a long slit and a slight train.

Moore completed the look with suede pumps, diamond drop earrings, and, of course, a fully denim handbag created by the brand’s executive director of Accessories, Reed Krakoff.

Later in the evening, the actress presented the Innovation Award to Richard Dickson and Zac Posen on behalf of Gap Inc. Dickson and Posen, naturally, both wore denim too.

While sculptural and evening-ready, Moore’s gown put a distinctly American spin on the evening’s “American Black Tie” theme. Plus, denim is woven into the fabric of American style—and Gap’s DNA, too.

“Denim is at the heart of Gap’s identity, and I wanted to explore its function in an entirely new way for my dear friend Demi,” Posen said in a statement. “By deconstructing the familiar details of a classic jean and reimagining them through the lens of elevated eveningwear, we created something sculptural, unexpected, and distinctly GapStudio.”
