THOMSON, Ga. (WJBF) – If you’re trying to see Scottish Highland cows up close and personal, then Crawford’s Double O Farm might be just what you’re looking for.
The business has added several new additions since the last time the “Your Hometown Road Trip,” team visited, so they stopped back in to speak with owner, Vanessa Crawford about what’s new.
What is this place and what is it all about?
“We started with breeding Scottish Highland cows, and we have rapidly progressed to agrotourism, we offer farm visits, and now overnight here, weddings, birthday parties, you name it.”
What does that mean for you to be able to expand?
“It’s been amazing, around April we launched our first Air BnB, and we were booked within the first week. So, we added four more, and we are booked until next year, which is fantastic. We went viral on Travel Pirates, and we’ve had people come from all over the world to our small community here in Thomson. We’ve had people from Europe, people from many places in the United States, South America, it’s pretty neat.”
What do people say when they come out here?
“That it’s very unique, because we’re one of the only places that offers free range animals so when people stay here, it’s not just visiting for like an hour, then they take the animals away. You actually get to camp here, and it’s very nice, because there’s AC, heat, refrigerator, you name it, and we have connoisseur services where folks will bring food to you, you get activities brought right to your door, like brunches with the cows, but you can spend your entire visit interacting with the animals. You can just stay out there and the animals will be at your door, they’ll be watching movies with you outside, it’s just a different experience.”
What do you want people saying when they leave here?
“That they haven’t experienced anything similar, but also that they find the value from interacting with nature, with the animals. We have a lot of folks that just because of their life style, they don’t have access of coming to the country, or they would like to have a farm, it’s just not feasible, so they get that. They bring their children and it’s a wonderful family experience.”
