It’s hard to pin down exactly what groceries makes Costco the best. The $1.50 hot dogs are a real draw, but so are the deals on bulk groceries across its sprawling freezer, pantry, and deli sections. In fact, I’ve had Costco birthday cakes for more years than I can count.
I also always make sure I have enough time to go to the Costco food court and grab a little sweet dessert with my hot dog. (The chocolate chip cookies are great.) When I heard that Costco was introducing a brand-new sundae that combines two of my favorite things, Costco’s apple pie and ice cream, I knew I had to give it a try.
Costco Food Court Releases a New Apple Pie Sundae
The Apple Pie Sundae is latest Costco food court is here for a limited time this fall. It’s $2.99 and comes in a 12-ounce plastic cup (as large as the everyday sundaes and smoothies). It features layers of vanilla soft serve ice cream, apple pie filling, and cinnamon-sprinkled pie crust crumbles.
My Honest Review of Costco’s Apple Pie Sundae
If you love Costco’s apple pie, you will really love this sundae. It tastes like apple pie a la mode. Who doesn’t love a slice of their favorite fall fruit pie topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream? Here, the creamy vanilla ice cream dominates, with chunks of buttery apple pie crust and apple filling mixed in.
The generous layers of pie crust and apple pie filling is what really takes this sundae to the next level. It’s sweet, jammy, and crunchy from the pie bits — it’s a textural wonderland.
The only change I’d make is to somehow heat the pie filling. Maybe Costco can upgrade it to a hot Apple Pie Sundae next year. In the meantime, this is a great seasonal treat at any temperature. Swing by your Costco’s food court, try it for yourself, and let me know what you think.
