Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber have made a rare public appearance as they continue navigating an unimaginable family loss.
The couple were spotted running errands in Malibu, offering a glimpse of their lives six weeks after their son, Presley Gerber, died at 27.
Their outing came amid continued signs of grief from the family, including deeply personal tributes from Crawford and their daughter, Kaia, that revealed just how profoundly his absence had affected them.
Cindy Crawford And Rande Gerber Step Out Amid Family Grief

Ordinary family errands appeared to have become part of Cindy Crawford and Rande’s gradual return to public life.
The couple were photographed collecting groceries from a Malibu supermarket on Tuesday, with her husband carrying a brown paper bag as they walked together.
Photos obtained by the Daily Mail showed the actress in a green button-up shirt, jeans and brown boots, completing her outfit with sunglasses. Her husband opted for jeans, a white shirt and a black windbreaker.
The appearance offered another glimpse of the couple leaning on each other as they dealt with the loss of their eldest child.
Earlier in the month, they were seen holding hands during a subdued beach outing, suggesting that spending time together remained important as they processed their grief.
Crawford Shared Heartbreaking Tribute To Son Presley
The family’s grief became particularly visible in a joint statement Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber shared on Instagram on October 18.
Accompanying the message was a black-and-white photograph of Presley, whose death on September 20 left his parents and sister devastated.
Crawford and Rande made clear how difficult it had been to put their loss into words, writing, “We are beyond heartbroken to lose our beloved son and brother.”
They also reflected on the 27 years they had shared with him, remembering him as someone whose character made them proud.
“He is a sweet, beautiful soul who loved and is loved, now and forever,” the statement continued. The couple also praised the way Presley presented himself to the world, highlighting his kindness and vulnerability.
The message acknowledged the support that had reached the family from friends, loved ones and even strangers who had been moved by their loss. They ended with a personal farewell, “Til we meet again our sweet boy. We love you forever, Mom, Dad and Kaia.”
Cindy Crawford’s Daughter Kaia Revealed Her Deepest Heartbreak
While Crawford and Rande shared their grief as parents, Kaia’s tribute offered a different perspective on the loss, revealing what losing Presley meant to someone who had grown up with him as her closest companion.
The 25-year-old model shared an emotional message about the bond they had maintained throughout their lives, describing being his sister as something she would always treasure.
“You know how much I loved being your sister. It has always been, and will forever be, my favorite thing about myself,” Kaia wrote on Instagram.
She also recalled entering the world already deeply attached to her older brother, explaining that the love she had for him was difficult to contain.
“I came into this world with a white-knuckle grip around you. I had more love for you than I knew what to do with. And now that it has nowhere obvious to go, I’m certain it’s going to swallow me whole,” she wrote.
Kaia described Presley as her “ultimate teacher” and admitted that his absence had left her questioning what lessons life could possibly offer without him.

Kaia Returned To Modeling With Her Brother’s Memory Close

The depth of Kaia’s grief was particularly evident in the childhood memory she shared in her tribute to Presley. She recalled being frightened before getting her ears pierced, prompting her older brother to volunteer to go first.
It was a small gesture that captured the protective role he had played in her life, but the memory took on a devastating meaning after his death.
In her letter, Kaia wrote, “And I keep thinking about how when we were little, I got scared before getting my ears pierced so you went first. You always went first. But when I held the earring they took from your body, all I could think was: this belongs to you. And I really (expletive) wish you hadn’t gone first this time.”
That deeply personal recollection accompanied a professional development that brought the model back into the public eye. Kaia featured in a new JW Anderson x UGG campaign, photographed by Tanya and Zhenya Posternak.
The collaboration showcased three colorways: Chestnut, Khaki and Orange, and marked her first fashion campaign since Presley died.
Cindy Crawford’s Son’s Sober Home Cleared After State Investigation

Presley’s death also prompted scrutiny of the Santa Monica residence where he had spent his final night, raising questions about the kind of care available at the property.
According to The Blast, resolutions Living came under review after a reform advocate filed a complaint with California’s Department of Health Care Services, questioning whether the facility had operated beyond the legal limits of a sober living residence.
The complaint specifically questioned whether Presley had been admitted despite needing a higher level of care. It described the concerns as “extremely serious questions about his admission, screening, supervision, and level-of-care determination.”
The department’s investigation, however, focused on whether the residence had provided services that required a state license.
Officials explained that they had “initiated a review solely to determine whether the program was providing any services that would require a state license.”
Their final assessment did not identify licensing violations. In its statement, the department said, “That review is now complete, and DHCS did not identify any activities that would constitute unlicensed substance use disorder treatment or otherwise require licensure. As such, no violations were found, and the matter is now closed.”
