I have to admit, as much as I love the holiday season, I am not a “winter” person. If I am going to endure the frigid, dark season, I might as well pick a spot that’s visually stunning. According to research conducted by Premier Inn that used eye-tracking software to determine how long people ogled various locations, participants named Boston the most beautiful city to visit in the winter. It earned an impressive 2.66 seconds of viewing time as participants took in snowy images of the historic colonial city’s architecture and admired the Boston Common and Public Gardens.
What makes Boston so beautiful in the winter?
Hall of fame Boston Braves baseball player Billy Herman once said of the city, “Boston has two seasons: August and winter.” Jokes aside, considering that for a good eight months out of the year it feels like winter, the city and its residents have fully embraced cold-weather living.
Aesthetically, there is so much to take in during the winter. While these sites are stunning and accessible in warmer months, the picture of them in fresh-fallen snow adds to their beauty instantly.
