If you’ve ever been stuck in a delayed boarding line, you’ve probably witnessed some tense moments… but perhaps none as intense as the full-volume performance currently going viral on TikTok.
Posted by creator @unacceptabletay, the video shows a woman at a Southwest Airlines gate in Denver pacing, pointing, and screaming at both travelers and staff while demanding answers about why boarding hadn’t started. It’s clear she is eventually removed from the flight, though it’s unclear if that is a result of her behavior or just a typical case of airline overbooking.
At one point, she turns to the crowd and shouts, “Do you feel safe?!” And then the distinctively phrased: “Why are not we boarding?!”
Within hours, that phrasing became TikTok’s new favorite meme. One commenter joked, “Why does she sound like she’s speaking Middle English?” Another chimed in, “Thou art not boarding?” Plenty compared her to Shakespeare, slam poetry, and even Yoda: “Why not boarding are we?” It’s silly semantics, but people loved having fun at the expense of the person they deemed in the wrong. Eventually, security came to escort her away after her disturbance.
The creator, who filmed the scene, jumped into the comments to add more context:
“It took them like 30 minutes to get there and she was just non-stop like this the whole time,” she wrote of airport security — noting that gate agents appeared visibly shaken afterward. “She had tears in her eyes when I went over to check on her… I felt so bad.”
Once security finally approached the woman, the terminal erupted into cheers, according to multiple commenters who said they watched the moment unfold from different angles. “If there is only ONE place on this entire planet to behave, it’s the damn airport,” one person wrote.
The comments section — now thousands deep — is full of zingers:
-
“Why she doing slam poetry?”
-
“Hear ye, hear ye… why are not we boarding?!”
-
“People are not afraid enough of the no-fly list.”
-
“All this to get to Idaho?”
-
“The airport is the last place I’m letting my demons loose.”
And perhaps the most relatable take:
“Why do people act like delays are the gate agent’s fault?”
The video continues to rack up views (2.3 million and counting) and comments as TikTok collectively quotes, reenacts, and analyzes the meltdown — equal parts chaos, theater, and cautionary tale about keeping your cool on travel day.
A quick PSA for your next airport delay
Since the terminal clearly agreed on this point:
-
Gate agents don’t control delays.
-
Yelling won’t speed up boarding, but it might get you escorted out — or worse.
-
And if you’re going to have an outburst at the airport…. be prepared for the possibility your unbecoming scene might go viral.
