A new name is taking its place in Big Sky, Montana: One&Only Moonlight Basin. It’s the brand’s first resort in the United States, with amenities like mountain access via a heated gondola, luxe accommodations, and 240 acres of alpine forest.
The resort is designed for every season, pairing slope-side elegance with the wild scenescapes that define Montana. Set within the Moonlight Basin community on the north side of Lone Mountain, the resort is a year-round base camp for high-country adventures, from powder mornings and ice fishing to summer hikes, horseback riding, and alpine lake paddles.

The resort’s 73 guest rooms and suites, along with 19 standalone cabins, were designed by the Seattle-based firm Olson Kundig, known for blending structure and landscape. Warm woods, local stone, fireplaces, and deep soaking tubs bring comfort to mountain-modern interiors framed by floor-to-ceiling windows showcasing the wilderness. The signature Moonlight Suite offers a separate living room and seemingly infinite views across the valley.
Dining at altitude

The Landing, the resort’s alpine restaurant and bar, anchors the après-ski scene with mountain fare, Montana meats, and cocktails with a sense of place. Michelin-recognized chef Akira Back is behind a namesake restaurant that adds a contemporary Japanese experience to Big Sky’s growing culinary landscape. Other dining options include Wildwood, serving three meals a day of local flavors, and two cocktail bars, including the speakeasy-style whiskey bar, Moonshack.
Spa and wellness
The spa at One & Only Moonlight Basin is inspired by its alpine surroundings. Facilities include private treatment suites, an indoor-outdoor hydrotherapy circuit, relaxation lounges, and a fitness studio with mountain views. Treatments blend modern wellness techniques with natural elements, such as local botanicals and crystals, offering a respite between ski runs and summer hikes.
Slope days and slow nights

The resort features a heated ski gondola
(One&Only Moonlight Basin)
Winter guests step from their suites into a seamless ski experience. From the Sky Lodge, the private gondola rises to the newly expanded Madison 8 Chair, which doubles uphill capacity to access more than 5,800 acres of terrain. Evenings return to the firelit comfort of The Landing or a cocktail at the bar as the peaks glow with the changing colors of the setting sun.
Beyond the snow

When the thaw arrives, One&Only Moonlight Basin becomes a summer resort in full bloom. Guests can golf on nearby fairways, explore the trails on guided hikes, or cast a line in cold mountain streams, paddleboarding across ponds, mountain biking, and horseback riding round out the season’s adventures. With three million acres of national forest surrounding the property and Yellowstone National Park little more than an hour away, Big Sky’s wilderness remains part of the everyday view.
A new chapter for One&Only
One&Only is known for luxury properties in locations from the Maldives to Mexico’s Riviera Maya. This Montana debut extends its reach into the American wilderness without losing the refinement that defines the brand. In the shadow of Lone Peak, the resort will offer something rare: a mountain sanctuary where high design disappears into the wilderness.
The resort is officially open, with rates and availability listed through One & Only Moonlight Basin.
