Channing Tatum prepares for a different kind of doomsday in a new campaign for Dunkin’.

The promo centers on a “Munchkin incursion,” with the actor reprising his role as Gambit alongside the Fantastic Four’s robotic sidekick H.E.R.B.I.E.

Tatum, 46, who debuted as the character in 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine, plays Gambit again in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday movie.

On Wednesday, Nov. 4, Dunkin’ is launching a new collection of limited-time drinks, donuts and collectibles inspired by the much-anticipated Marvel release.

Tatum tells PEOPLE when he first heard the concept for the spot, “I knew that it was going to be hilarious, just the idea of Gambit anywhere else other than in the actual X-Men world.”

Plus, he says, “Munchkin incursion is one of the funnier two words put together.”

Of H.E.R.B.I.E., he adds, “Robots are great because he’s kind of a bit of a clown. You just make sounds and there’s no real expression. There’s a little bit of hinting at expression, and that’s my favorite kind of acting anyways. I could just ad-lib almost anything, and we don’t know what he’s saying.”

While filming the video, Tatum says he leaned into Gambit’s “flirty” nature.

“I definitely flirted with H.E.R.B.I.E a little bit,” he jokes. “I was like, ‘Hey.’ Because Gambit doesn’t care what you are or who you are, he likes to flirt. So I definitely was flirting with a robot.”

Tatum says he “ate a ton of Munchkins” during the shoot, and had his “sugar fill” from the treats.

However, the actor says his usual go-to order is a savory menu item.

“I crush the hash browns at Dunkin’s,” he says. “Me and my daughter, we had a Dunkin’s right next to her elementary school, and I would go in and get an iced latte and we’d order six hash browns and we would just house them in two blocks on the way to her elementary school.”

Tatum and his ex-wife Jenna Dewan welcomed daughter Everly in 2013 before separating in 2018.

He says he’s dreamed of playing Gambit since he was a kid himself.

“I literally was in Mississippi with my friends in the living room throwing cards at each other and watching the cartoon when I was little,” he recalls.

Tatum reflected on his favorite part of bringing Gambit to life.

“I think where there’s a lot of characters in the MCU world that have to be very straight and very serious, my favorite characters are the ones that can be a little devil-may-care and gallows humor,” he says. “The world could be sort of coming down around you and you’re still cracking a joke on a smile and loving the chaos of it all.”

“He’s sort of a chaos demon in a way,” he adds. “The crazier it is, the more he likes it. And Gambit, he’s not a traditional hero in that sense. He’s a thief ultimately at the end of the day, and his morals are a little bit gray, but at the end of the day, he’s got a really good heart and that’s what keeps him from being a villain.”
