As the ski season approaches, a Virginia ski resort is unveiling a new look and logo.

The sleeker, modern-looking design for Massanutten Resort replaces a past brand mark and includes four “M” shapes.

The “M” shapes, Massanutten’s director of marketing, Drew Hurst, said in a release, “represent the four seasons and everything the mountain has to offer.”

“What excites us most is how the mark can come to life through seasonal colors, animation, and creative storytelling,” Hurst added, crediting the design outfit WLF Studio with being an “incredible creative partner throughout this process.”

The new branding pays tribute to the resort’s heritage while reflecting its evolution from a ski destination established in 1973 to a year-round mountain getaway, the release added.

The rebrand joins an updated Massanutten website, which includes a feature called the “Adventure Planner.” Through that, potential visitors answer a few questions—Are you bringing the kids? How long do you plan to stay?—before the planner delivers an itinerary.

The tool, the resort’s general manager, Michael Hammes, said in the release, makes it easier for “guests to discover all the mountain has to offer and find new reasons to return throughout the year.”

Beyond the branding and website, Massanutten is expanding its facilities, with the recent addition of Mountain Mayhem—Virginia’s first alpine coaster—and a new pickleball complex. On the slopes, the resort plans to add new terrain.

And, in early 2027, Massanutten aims to debut an approximately 25,000-square-foot indoor waterpark expansion followed by the opening of ShenandoaH2O, a new 140-room waterpark hotel.

A few hours outside Washington, D.C., the resort caters to the East Coast crowd with seven lifts (three are surface lifts) and 23 named trails. Massanutten is typically open for skiing from December through March. The resort’s newest chairlift, the Peak Express, was installed in 2023, according to Lift Blog, with the rest of the fleet coming online throughout the 2000s.

Massanutten’s rebrand joins that of Mt. Baker, Washington, which recently updated its previous logo but kept the iconic raven motif that’s appeared over the past few decades.
