Napa Valley has built its reputation around wine tasting, vineyard visits and restaurants that turn local ingredients into destination-worthy meals.
However, visitors exploring downtown Napa will soon lose one of its established Italian dining destinations, a restaurant that earned repeated recognition from the San Francisco Chronicle during its years in business.
The restaurant has announced its permanent closure, giving locals and visitors less than two weeks to enjoy its Southern Italian cooking, wood-fired pizzas and housemade salumi before its final service.

Its departure also marks the end of a nearly 17-year chapter for a dining room that became part of downtown Napa’s food scene.
Nov. 14 Closure Ends 17-Year Run for Chef-Owner Tyler Rodde
Oenotri will permanently close on Saturday, November 14, 2026, after nearly 17 years at 1425 First Street in downtown Napa.
Chef-owner Tyler Rodde opened the restaurant in 2010, building its menu around Southern Italian cooking inspired by Sicily, Campania, Calabria, Basilicata and Puglia.
The restaurant announced its decision on social media, thanking customers, employees, and the wider community for their support over the years.
“What began as a restaurant became a gathering place, a second home, a family and a part of so many people’s stories,” the restaurant said in its farewell message on Instagram.

The owners described the closure as a natural evolution as they move on to other chapters. They also encouraged customers to visit for another meal and drink before the restaurant shuts down.

Southern Italian Menu Secured SF Chronicle Top 100 Rankings
Oenotri developed a following through its combination of handmade Italian specialties and ingredients sourced from local producers and its own culinary garden.
Its menu includes wood-fired pizzas, freshly prepared pasta and housemade salumi, with recipes drawing on several Southern Italian regions.
Former San Francisco Chronicle restaurant critic Michael Bauer included Oenotri on the publication’s Top 100 Restaurants list for several consecutive years. Reviewing the restaurant, Bauer wrote: “Oenotri not only does everything well, but it has something to please just about everyone.”

He also praised its pizza, cured meats and pasta, highlighting the thin, crisp crust and house-produced olive oil.
For visitors exploring Napa Valley’s wineries, Oenotri has provided a downtown dining option beyond the restaurants attached to vineyard estates and resorts.
Its First Street location also places it within the city’s central shopping and dining district.
