Pano Bar
If you like your après to be on the slopes, with plenty of hands in the air, upbeat staff, banging bass and shots a go-go – this is your place. Pano Bar is right in the middle of the ski area, at 2600m (but is readily accessible by the new Jandri, you don’t even have to ski there). From 2.30-4.45pm daily, the DJ sets up, with dancers and a live sax. There’s burgers and chips on offer and the coffee is good, but the main reason you go is to have a drink and a dance. Dressing up – think comedy onesies and 80s neons, or at least some mirrored sunglasses – is encouraged.

Smithy’s Tavern
Smithy’s Tavern is a massive wooden chalet with a restaurant and bar particularly popular with British visitors for its artisan beers and cocktail pitchers.

Chez Nous 2
A tapas bar managed by two enthusiastic owners, Ophélie and Sophie. They offer local produce as well as specialties from the southwest of France. Located on Place de Venosc, Chez Nous 2 is a friendly and cosy place to stop for a drink and a bite.

K.ré
K.ré, on Rue des Vikings, is known for its huge menu of shots, with over 150 to choose from, plus cocktails, wines and beers. Cheese and meat sharing plates are also served. The music is acid jazz in the early evening, moving onto electro by the end of the night.

Bistrot Chamois Lodge
Le Bistrot du Chamois Lodge, on the ground floor of the hotel of the same name, has a warm and cosy atmosphere, with an extensive cocktail list, including a special each week, and an extensive wine selection too. Giant platters of local cheeses and meats are available to order, plus there’s a great outdoor terrace with heaters and open fires.

Polar Bear Club
A twinkling spot just off the main street, the Polar Bear is the heart of in-town après. The exterior vibe is chalet charm verging on kitsch – plenty of fairy lights and the chance sit in the afternoon sunshine with perhaps a vin chaud, an Irish coffee, or one of the array of ales and beers on tap. When the sun goes down the joint really warms up. Live music, a lively crowd – if you want to hang out to share the stoke with fellow free riders after a powder day, this is where they will be.
