Can I steal you for a second? Cool. Envision this: You’re on a tropical island and you’ve just arrived in your room for the night. Once you’ve stepped inside, the light flickers on and you see a trail of roses on your king-sized bed and a card with your name written on it. You settle in your love seat, pop open the chilled champagne, and after you’ve unraveled a piece a chocolate, you unseal your card. In it? Exciting plans for your adventure the next day. Sounds like a dream, huh?
That is exactly what I experienced when Secrets Tulum Resort & Beach Club (where The Bachelor filmed the final episodes of its 28th season) invited me to a Bachelor-inspired trip (along with a few actual couples from the show). Fittingly, the package was called Roses & Romance and though it’s no longer being offered (’twas a spring-to-early summer thing), there’s a “Gift of Love” offering going on. But regardless of whether you do a package or not, you can have your own romantic escape at this picturesque hotel. So…will you accept this rose?

THE FIRST IMPRESSIONS
This all-inclusive resort’s aesthetic is exactly what comes to mind when I think of Tulum: earthy, bohemian, chic. The beautiful jungle-inspired décor included wood and endemic lush vegetation, which created a romantic and peaceful ambiance. The lobby itself has an outdoor concept with cenote-inspired architecture (so cool!). For a really luxe experience, I enrolled in the Preferred Club and was swept away from the heat and into a pristine lounge where I was checked in and offered special concierge service. All members also get an upgraded suite and other enhanced provisions.
THE ROOMS
I stayed in an impressive junior suite with a king bed, a full bathroom with a separate rain shower, and a furnished, private balcony. I rarely stayed in my room (so much to do, so little time!), but I must say, I got some solid rest on that bed (the blackout drapes were also helpful). The vibes were so earthy and serene. The bathroom’s rock and marble elements will make you feel like you’re in your own personal spa. There are double vanities and a luxe round tub. All in all, my room felt like a private sanctuary…I’m still dreaming of my balcony.
THE AMENITIES
You’ll get your fair share of pool-hopping done here—there are so many to choose from. But my favorite was the one at the rooftop bar. I was preparing for a pageant, so you better believe I took advantage of that fitness center! The state-of-the-art equipment included free weights, treadmills, ellipticals, stationary bikes, universal weight stations, and more. Plus, you’ll be happy to know that you can enjoy the Secrets Spa in the resort (the hydrotherapy circuit is out of this world) and the Zanna Beach Club, which is just a short complimentary shuttle away. Additionally, there’s 24-hour room service and free Wi-Fi everywhere you go.
THE FOOD AND BEV
Foodies, prepare to feast! Secrets Tulum has eight dining options, including three à la carte gourmet restaurants, a buffet, a grill, a cafe, and two snack bars. And get this: no reservations are required! In the mood for Mediterranean? Go to Olio. How about a fusion of Asian and Peruvian? Then, head to Jasmine. Bluewater Grill is for seafood lovers. Additionally, you’ll find four bars (Barracuda has healthy options, Edgewater has tropical cocktails, Half Time Sports Bar gets wild, and Rendezvous has chic vibes) and lounges. There are also 24-hour dining options at the Coco Café, or you can just order room service.
THE BOTTOM LINE
Turns out both my first impression and final roses go to Secrets Tulum Resort & Beach Club. I fell in love with the resort’s atmosphere, vibrant culture, and culinary experiences. If you need some romance in your life, this hybrid resort is a clear choice. Oh, and if you or someone you know is getting married, consider this the perfect honeymoon option!
