I stopped staying at Airbnbs a few years ago. I was fed up with chore lists and inconsistent amenities (once, a kitchen was so poorly stocked that I had to drive to the store to purchase coffee mugs). There were things I missed, though — like being able to do a load of laundry or prepare meals in a kitchen. This is why I was eager to check into The Ann Savannah, Apartments by Marriott Bonvoy. The hotel promised to combine all the things I valued in an Airbnb with the service and amenities of a hotel.

Savannah is a romantic city with historic architecture and ancient trees draped with Spanish moss. The Ann Savannah lobby guest lounge fits right in, with a mixture of velvet and leather furnishings arranged into individual seating areas for intimate conversations. Southern hospitality was immediately on display when I was offered a complimentary welcome drink at check-in.

The Ann opened in February, debuting an all-suite hotel designed for longer stays. It’s ideal for business travelers, families, or anyone who wants space to spread out and relax in a home-like environment. There are multiple floor plans to choose from, ranging from one-bedroom studios to four-bedroom, four-bath apartments encompassing two stories.
My 833-square-foot two-bedroom suite was designed for up to four people. There were two bathrooms with walk-in showers, a fully-stocked kitchen, a washer and dryer, and more closet space and drawers than I have at home.

The decor marries industrial themes with mid-century modern-inspired furnishings, combining elements like high ceilings and finished concrete floors with soft touches, such as a cognac-colored leather sofa and a moss-green accent chair. The eat-in kitchen gleamed with full-sized stainless steel appliances and enough cookware, dishes, and utensils to whip up gourmet meals.

Each of the bedrooms contained a king-sized bed swathed in Egyptian cotton linens that were so luxurious I had to drag myself out of bed in the morning. The bathrooms were stocked with luxurious bath amenities, and extras like cotton swabs and makeup wipes waited in the drawers.

A tranquil courtyard with twinkling lights and leafy green trees sits at the heart of The Ann. A large grill and tables make it the ideal place to prepare al fresco meals. Guests also have access to an outdoor pool surrounded by plush loungers on a sundeck, as well as a gym equipped with state-of-the-art exercise equipment.

Located off the lobby guest lounge, Laurel Market offers snacks, light groceries such as pasta and jarred pasta sauce, beverages, and local goods like jars of honey from the Savannah Bee Company.
The onsite restaurant, Little James, has a casual yet sophisticated vibe. Breakfast includes fresh-baked pastries and classic favorites such as breakfast sandwiches and avocado toast. The all-day menu features sandwiches, salads, flatbreads, and desserts, served alongside a selection of wine, beer, handcrafted cocktails, and mocktails.
Things to do in the area

The Ann is located a few steps away from The Grey, one of Savannah’s best restaurants. Situated in an Art Deco bus station dating back to 1938, The Grey serves fresh takes on Southern classics, such as smoked collard greens, fried chicken, and dayboat catch, all prepared with locally sourced ingredients.
The Ann is located within walking distance (or a short Uber or Lyft ride) to most of the city’s top attractions, including Forsyth Park, River Street, City Market, and the Prohibition Museum, which fittingly leads to a speakeasy.
