Walt Disney World is the perfect getaway for both newly married couples and couples celebrating their anniversary. And while the theme parks are some of the biggest reasons couples make their pilgrimage to Orlando, Disney World boasts plenty of hotels that can make the perfect couples getaway even more romantic.

How We Picked Disney’s Most Romantic Resorts

Wilderness Lodge
There’s a good reason why couples love to vacation at Disney World. For some, Disney was a part of one or both of their childhoods. For others, they understand how much Disney has to offer not just for families, but also for adults. However, Disney does a fantastic job at catering to couples who are looking for a truly romantic getaway that competes with a lot of other destinations around the world.
Here’s why the following hotels made our list:
-
Theming and Beauty: Each hotel on this list has its own level of elegance that makes your romantic getaway that much more special
-
The “It” Factor: Part of what makes a hotel feel so romantic is its ability to evoke the feeling of getting away from the rest of the world
-
Restaurants and Lounges: Because you can’t do a romantic hotel without romantic restaurant and lounge options
-
Activities: What better way to bond with your significant other than through a special activity offered at your hotel?

Fort Wilderness
If you didn’t expect Fort Wilderness to make our list, think again! Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort offers couples a unique getaway experience distinct from that of Wilderness Lodge. Fort Wilderness takes you farther away from the bustle of the theme parks, surrounding you with towering cypress trees and winding trails. Enjoy a campfire under the stars, horseback riding, kayaking or canoeing, archery, or even a romantic horse-drawn carriage ride as the sun sets over Bay Lake.
With its secluded environment and nostalgic sense of adventure, Fort Wilderness gives you a warm, down-to-earth type of romance that feels simple yet unforgettable.

Polynesian
Next on our list is Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, which takes couples away with its lush landscaping, tiki torches, and breathtaking views of Seven Seas Lagoon. The second you step into the resort area, you’re surrounded by the scent of hibiscus and the sounds of the ukulele. Take a stroll along the sandy beach, grab a Dole Whip while watching the sunset, unwind and share a cocktail at Wailulu Bar & Grill, which overlooks Seven Seas Lagoon, or have fun over a few drinks at the interactive Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto.
And if you’re looking for an even more romantic getaway, book an over-water bungalow, which gives you even more privacy with a perfect view of the Magic Kingdom fireworks. Admittedly, the Polynesian Resort ranks lower on our list simply because it can feel busy and crowded throughout the resort, as this resort is popular among families. However, with its laid-back island atmosphere, the Polynesian is still the perfect romantic Hawaiian getaway – without the long plane ride.

Port Orleans Riverside
Disney has yet another underrated resort that’s perfect for a romantic getaway. Port Orleans Riverside gives you the picturesque charm of rural Louisiana. Walk hand-in-hand with your significant other along the waters of the Sassagoula River as you soak in the sights of the magnolia trees, the majestic white columns of the plantation mansions, and the rustic bayou lodges. Or better yet, why not take a romantic horse-drawn carriage ride around that same pathway?
And if you’re looking for live entertainment, you’re in the right place. At the River Roost Lounge, Yehaa Bob Jackson is sure to keep you stompin’ your feet and clappin’ your hands. But if you want something more sophisticated, walk over to Scat Cat’s Club Lounge at Port Orleans French Quarter, where you’ll enjoy some swingin’ jazz over a specialty cocktail and Southern-inspired eats. Port Orleans Riverside is the perfect romantic getaway at a more affordable price point.

Wilderness Lodge
If you’re looking for a romantic, secluded mountain retreat, look no further than Wilderness Lodge. Disney’s Wilderness Lodge takes after the turn-of-the-century National Park lodges with its grand stone fireplaces and warm wood tones. Take one step into the hotel’s magnificent lobby. As a couple, there are endless places to relax away from the crowds. And if you’re looking for a true getaway, consider booking a stay at a cabin along the water.
Wilderness Lodge has a great selection of lounges and restaurants. Artist Point is one of the more popular character dining restaurants with its elegant setting and creative Pacific Northwest cuisine. Next door, Territory Lounge is a great place for couples to unwind, while Geyser Point Bar & Grill gives you a great outdoor lounge to watch the fireworks and Electrical Water Pageant. With its blend of natural beauty, tranquil ambiance, and timeless craftsmanship, Wilderness Lodge is ideal for romance and relaxation.

Saratoga Springs
Saratoga Springs Resort is my personal favorite for my wife and me when we want a secluded, romantic getaway. Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort offers a serene escape with the charm of a Victorian-era lakeside retreat. Take a stroll along the picturesque pathways around the resort or along Lake Buena Vista. Look around at the horse-racing themed architecture that feels elegant and timeless.
Spend time relaxing in one of the three leisure pool areas. Share a delicious meal at The Turf Club Bar & Grill. Or if you want more variety, take a relaxing boat ride to Disney Springs for access to endless dinner, shopping, and live entertainment options. Oh, and for the golfers, how could I forget to mention having access to the world-class Lake Buena Vista Golf Course? Saratoga Springs blends relaxation and romance to make the perfect getaway.

Yacht Club
Of all the Disney hotels next to EPCOT, the Yacht Club takes the prize for most romantic. Disney’s Yacht Club exudes romance with its elegant New England seaside charm. It’s a much more tranquil atmosphere compared to its neighboring hotels along Crescent Lake. The lobby boasts a sophisticated nautical theme with rich wood accents and crisp white details, which creates a cozy-but-upscale ambience.
Here, you can enjoy a perfect dinner for two at Yachtsman Steakhouse, a relaxing breakfast at Ale & Compass, or unwind for a cocktail at the Crew’s Cup Lounge or Ale & Compass Lounge. With class, elegance, and serenity like this, how could you not have a romantic getaway?

Gran Destino Tower
Gran Destino Tower is still one of Disney World’s most underrated hotels – but it makes for one of the most romantic Disney getaways.
Themed after the style of artist Salvador Dalí, Gran Destino Tower evokes the feeling of quintessential Spain. Much like the Riviera Resort, as you step into the lobby, you’re naturally led toward the courtyard, opening up to a beautiful view of Villa del Lago. Home to one of my personal favorite lounges, Three Bridges Bar & Grill, staying here also gives you easy access to Toledo and Dahlia Lounge, a rooftop signature restaurant and lounge. This makes Gran Destino Tower the perfect choice for couples seeking a romantic Spanish-style getaway.

Animal Kingdom Lodge
Disney’s ability to take you on an exotic escape makes Animal Kingdom Lodge a must-visit. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge welcomes you with warm, earthy tones and African-inspired art to make you feel at home. From a Savanna View room, you and your significant other can enjoy quiet moments on your private balcony while watching giraffes and zebras roaming close by.
And the dining at Animal Kingdom Lodge is some of the best on property. Jiko – The Cooking Place offers a candelit ambience with bold cuisine, while Sanaa gives you casual, East African-inspired meals with the feel of a traditional spice market. Animal Kingdom Lodge gives you a sense of adventure and serenity that truly feels a world away.

Riviera
Right away, the Riviera Resort isn’t as large as the Grand Floridian, but in no way is it less elegant. Evoking the picturesque views of the French-Italian Riviera, Disney’s Riviera Resort is inspired by the classic and contemporary style of a Mediterranean hotel. The grand archways and circular art pieces guide you toward the courtyard, opening up to a breathtaking view of the lake and Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort. Stay in the extremely popular studio room (perfect for couples) and make sure to dine at Topolino’s Terrace, Riviera’s signature rooftop restaurant that gives you wonderful views of the EPCOT fireworks.
Disney’s Riviera Resort gives you the perfect romantic European-style getaway.

Grand Floridian
It’s no surprise that Disney World’s flagship resort made the top of our list of romantic resorts. The minute you step off the bus and onto the hotel grounds, you’re greeted with the Victorian-style elegance and charm from years past. Everywhere you walk, you feel the classiness of Palm Beach’s golden era with magnificent views of Cinderella Castle just across the lagoon. From the beautiful chandeliers in the lobby and world-class spa to the five table-service restaurants and Beauty and the Beast-themed lounge, the Grand Floridian is as romantic as it gets.
And if the Disney Wedding Pavilion that gives a picture-perfect view of Cinderella Castle for your next wedding or vow renewal doesn’t scream romantic, I’m not sure what does! It’s a quintessential hotel that’s perfect for your next romantic getaway.
